i don't fly out of LGA either, but this february my flight to EWR was cancelled and the only way back to the area was through LGA. To my surprise, the meter ran in the cab.

as for getting older, you are 100% correct. But I also think it has to do with the fact that we EARNED our careers! why do that anymore? I worked hard enough to get my degrees for a bigger paycheck so that I CAN avoid inconveniences! :) :) |
For me, I pay to avoid inconvenience because i don't have enough time to be inconvenienced, unlike when i was 21. When I have free time I don't like to be bogged down by unnecessary BS. |

Screw the Cubbies, lol....
I took the M60 into the city a little while back, and it took forever... If you wanna go the bus/train route, another option might be the Q33 to the station in Queens. It doesn't take very long at all, and you can catch express trains to almost anywhere in the city from there. Depends on where your staying though, too. |

| your FIRST time in NYC please don't bother taking an expensive cab ride or trying to make your way through the train system to get to and from the airport. it's a hassle, even for those of us who live here and I don't think I've taken either when flying in/out of NY in a few years. most stress free thing to do IMO would be to ask someone as soon as you get off the plane/collect your luggage where the Express Busses to Manhattan are. a round trip ticket is 15 or 20ish bucks and it will get you to 42nd Street @ Grand Central (just a few blocks east of Times Square) in a short, relaxing 30 minutes regardless of the time of day you arrive. from there you'll be able to get to wherever your hotel is very qickly (maybe even within walking distance depending on where you book). the time of day you arrive will determine just how crowded the streets are, but Grand Central/Times Square = epicenter of Manhattan and the area would be a great first sight to behold as an out-of-towner. the Express Bus will definitely be the least confusing way to go, and the place it drops you off at will be the same exact street you'd go back to to catch the Express Bus back to the airport (again, roughly 30 min ride without fail). I feel like they give you a Bus schedule when you buy your ticket, but ask for one if they don't so you can time your arrival back to Grand Central for the return trip, as the busses leave promptly. also, as a tourist, I'd consider staying in or near midtown. due to the recession, hotels aren't getting as much business and a lot of high end, usually pricey hotels have slashed their prices considerably. the area itself will be pretty expensive though. If that's a problem, then further downtown/SoHo might be your best bet for a lot more young people, and inexpensive places to eat/drink/party and explore. *again* try not to take the train or regular busses to and from the airport if you don't have to. they can be a nightmare even to the best of us. and don't bother giving your money to any people who appear homeless or pitiful. a lot of them have checking accounts, and I've had too many friends from out of town tell me they've given 20 and 30 bucks a day away to people begging on the streets and trains when they first moved here. just don't do it. and don't feel bad about it either lol :tongue2 |

:haha: :haha: :haha:
I have to agree: legit questions like transportation are fine, but seriously? The weather you can look up on line easily, and for the game, be there as soon or as late as you want (depending on if you wanna look around, grab a beer, or just head straight to your seat). :disbelief |
