Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Portishead, and DJ Krush. Are these good names to start with?

Yes, they are. Though I tend to think the vocalist for Portishead sounds wretched on most tracks.

Lamb as Trip Hop? Really? That's a difficult sell for me, but I guess....
Check out Portishead's Essential Mix from a decade+ back. It's not all trip hop but should give you an idea of where to look. Ill also recommend Madita, Bowery Electric, and Etro Anime....
