apparently you must take your car to a commercial car wash because they dont want run off in the drain. I suspect the real reason is because they can tax the commercial car washes.
Only in toronto! |

Charity carwashes are banned. They must rent out a commercial carwash and do it there.

I had a nice long chat with miller back in 2003 at a mayoral debate organized by the program i was in at ryerson and you know what? he kept up to everything he told me in person.
you just need anything at all to bitch at so please stop already because this is nauseating. half the things you bitch at dont affect you at all and just a bare minimum of people here yet you keep insisting on doing so. please please stop. |

Toronto has has that on the books since 2000:
http://www.wheels.ca/reviews/article/527593
according to the same article (from April 2009): "Toronto by-law officers haven't yet issued a violation notice. However, repeat offenders could be ticketed and face fines of up to $10,000 if a collected water sample proves a sewer use by-law violation."
and all of this is not "only in Toronto", contrary to your other post.
countless cities and states have had water restrictions in place for YEARS with regard to lawn watering, car washing, etc. for various reasons, mainly supply shortages for lawn watering and contaminated water run-off for washing cars.
Off the top of my head, I know Atlanta, GA has had one for some time for lawn watering, due to supply concerns.
a quick. search online confirms that restrictions or bans on either/both types of water use have been in effect in Kingston, the Waterloo region, Calgary, in various cities in U.S. states such as Nevada, North Carolina, Florida and California, and in various parts of Australia. I suspect that a detailed search would yield *plenty* more examples.
if you want to debate the merits or lack thereof of the state restricting water use in these manners, you do that. but enough already with the bull "only in" Toronto/Ontario/Canada all the time. if you hate the oppression here, just ing leave already. but enjoy not being able to wash your car or water your lawn all over the place, idiot.
 |

Jay,
I would love to sit down with you and have a beer and discuss politics. You are totally on the pulse of current events. And just in case you might think this is dirogitory in any, it is not.
Maybe you ought to run in some level of politics. This country needs someone with integrity.... |
when i read this i threw up a little in my mouth and named it conservatism. |

Dude I'm even going to try and deny it. I am very much a conservative. I hate the Fiberals as a whole almost as much as I hate Dalton. I know there are a lot of liberal supporters on here, but thats just my political preference. |

Water restrictions yes.. they are common and due to water supply issues. This i understand to a point. You see, after awhile when the water supplies were plentiful the restrictions remained. The car washing law? Thats really a toronto law. its possible its in a handful of other juridictions which doesnt make it acceptable either. But it seems that if its a law anywhere its always a law in toronto. They love to tell us how to do every single thing in our daily life.
Yes this didnt start with miller. But hes accelerated the process and made things worse at what seems like record speed.
The decline of toronto is very telling. Our priorities are in the wrong place and its obvious that bans and nanny state governing arent having the effect they intended......... Or are they? |
