I know this is probably a thread somewhere, but I swear I did a search and nothing came up.. Anyways I'm a big fan of food and lately I've been looking for some new places to eat to break my regular rotation. So tell me, what are your favorite top 5 places to eat in this city and what do you recommend there? Locations are much appreciated as well :)

Here's my favs:

1. Jackson Hole - Baldouni or Brie Buger (35th & 3rd)
For me, nothing beats a good burger and this is the best burger I've ever eaten.

2. Kebab Factory - Tikka Masala & Bihari Kebab (28th & Lex)
Best Indian food I've ever eaten.

3. Cowgirls - Frito Pie or BBQ Beef (W 10th & Hudson)
The beef here is cooked to perfection. Love it! (W 10th & Hudson)

4. Buttercup Bakery - Carrot Cake or German Chocolate cupcakes (52nd & 2nd)
I don't usually eat cakes and baked things but holy &#$% theirs are amazing. Better than Magnolia!

5. Jaiya Thai - Pad Gra Praw (28th & 3rd)
I think I've eaten this so much I've put their kids through college.

So let's make a third thread

Saichikos on Clinton Street has some really great sushi :)

These are my top places I like

Sushi Samba 7 A bit pricey but if you want a great atmosphere and want to impress someone this place is awesome with some really good baleric house music playing in the background.

Spice Market I just recently discovered this place because an artist had requested to go out here and I'm glad he did because this place rocked Prices a really reasonable, awesome atmosphere and if you have a party of like 7 of more you get your own booth sort of like a VIP lounge area with couches and such. Its really cool spot in the meat packing district if you like spicey food.

Cafe Lalo To me one of if not the best place to go get deserts and cafe in NY place is decorated as a little french bistro. It also has great fresh sandwiches, me and my g.f always have there drink specials of champagne which are Ooh-La-la-Lalo and Mimosa. Also if you saw the movie with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks "You've Got Mail" this is the cafe they would meet up and do there thing at so there's a little bit of history behind it as well. Only downside of this place is that they only take cash no cards so remember to go to the ATM before you go ;)

Ill probably get screamed at as usual but i stand by my Bravo pizza in Chelsea.... love it there!

I am also a fan of the 21 Club. Not for the snazy name but just because the bar room is fun and although I do not eat steak Ive been told by my friends who are with me, that their steak is awesome. The tuna tartar is great as well as the 21 burger. mmmm

I have not been to but have been told...no BEGGED to go to Crumbs bakeshop for cupcakes. You see I have a small obsession with cupcakes. I love them. BUT I never get them. Maybe once a year if im lucky. There is no sprinkles here and Im sad so i have been on the search for fabulous cupcakes and Ive been told they are found at Crumbs.....I wonder if anyone here knows?????

In the bronx is Mo Gridders. I take my dad there a lot. BBQ food and dont forget a HO Cake ;)

and dont forget the Food and Wine festival on Oct 8-11.

The second annual Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine Travel + Leisure magazines takes place October 8-11, 2009 and once again benefits the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength. Building on the success of the inaugural event held the same weekend in 2008, the 2009 Festival is set to turn up the heat in New York City this Columbus Day weekend.

this event is a must see and make sure to be hungry. I went last year and didnt get to stay long (its not as big as i had expected either) I am excited to go back :)

Stasis
1. Momofuku Ko - Just had lunch there this past saturday. 3.5 hours. 17 courses. 12 glasses of wine/sake/champagne/sherry. Almost $700 for 2. Close to being the best meal of my life.

2. Tsukushi - I feel kinda bad mentioning it. Fairly well hidden and they like it that way. One Japanese chef serving you at a simple bar. It has this amazing homey-vibe, seems like everyone knows each other there. I go there almost every single time I'm in the city - even if I've already had dinner someplace else. They stay open until 3 or 4 most nights.

3. Franny's - My favorite "pizza" place in the city, although everything is amazing there. When I used to live in Fort Greene, I would go almost every weekend.

4. iCi - Another Brooklyn place--my favorite summer brunch spot. You could sit out in the backyard courtyard nursing a cafe creme for hours reading the Sunday paper.

5. Ippudo - Who doesn't like ramen?

oh and dont forget Mombar in Astoria :) yum

annnnd the barzillian place- Ive been to Fogo de Chao in Chicago and it was INSANE! Ive NOT been to this NYC twin but ive been told by my Brazillian familia that this place is identical and sometimes even better...mmmmm

Plataforma located at 316 W 49th Street-NYC i desperately want to go...if its anything like Fogo its REALLY REALLY GOOD!
