agreed..

Reasons for the decline of trance's popularity:

1. New, good productions are rare
2. Other types of music have evolved whereas trance has stagnated

Totally agreed.

I still love trance, even if I don't spend too much effort keeping up with it. It's just not worth spending hours just to find one okay tune.

3. Trance parties suck, and the people at them are generally annoying

Bah. I find stuck up plastic people at many house parties to be more annoying than retards at trance parties.

I still have better time at a trance party than a house party, when I do go to one.

Like everything, you gotta pick your parties carefully

Unfortunately the decline of use of glowsticks at trance parties has had enormous effects on the future of trance in general.

You should definitely be checking out Ferry's new stuff. He's revisting the old trance sound. Heaven in my ears.

Substituting an old sound for an even older sound is not a solution. I, for one, have stopped listening to trance because I think that the genre has produced few if any new ideas since 1999-2001. Others are changing constantly, and change isn't always good, but it's necessary.

Graham's point about the crowd is also valid. The crowd at a trance party tends to be an odd combination of skasians, ginos, cerebral solitary types who think that waving their hands in the air is dancing, and irritating trend followers who get excited over whatever's popular. That's how I see it anyway. And I'm not saying that everyone who likes trance is a loser, just that it's the bulk of a typical trance audience.

Snob...

No, not really, just aware of my environment. Snobs are people who believe that any music more than 3 days old or any club with more than 100 people isn't underground enough.

Snobs are also people who reminisce about what the scene was like ~10 years ago and insist that it will never be that good again.

A very smart man would like all of you to "STOP BEING ING GENRE ELITISTS". Right Del?

lol. the reason why we post on tranceaddict is because we like the site, no other real reason. if it sucked or wasn't fun, we wouldn't post. tranceaddict is just a name not a certain type of person is allowed.

but seriously, in a world without this site, i would have never been enjoying a nice Tuesday night smoking hooka with nice peeps listening to great tunes. i would probably be crying at home alone.

I don't see how that's snobby in the least...

But it is true...
