Substituting an old sound for an even older sound is not a solution. I, for one, have stopped listening to trance because I think that the genre has produced few if any new ideas since 1999-2001. Others are changing constantly, and change isn't always good, but it's necessary.

Current trends even in house are annoying to me. I'm just on here riding out what's popular until I hear something I like again. Someone please bring back the funk in house!

Yes please.

I'm on here because once upon a time I actually liked trance. TA, for me, was a source of information for upcoming events. I would go to the parties, and made some friends/acquaintances along the way. Eventually, while downloading a friend's collection of sets to my computer I came across some new music that I didn't know how to classify, but I knew it certainly wasn't trance music. I liked it, and it was house. Quickly, I grew out of trance. I remained active on the boards for my original reason, information. Now, the added reason why I stay on here: Tranceaddict is a great time killer when you're bored and have absolutely nothing to do. Some posts on here are interesting/value-adding, while others (like *****'s) are complete nonsensical gibberish.

I like Trance.

I like House.

If it's dark, dirty with some tribal beats...I like that even more.

I think TA was a meeting place for people that had a common interest in electronic dance music. The years have passed (PLUR is just a memory now) and a lot of us have moved on to newer sounds. Deep down this is where we come to post our appreciation for electronic music. We may not always agree, but it's all good.

I use to go to trance parties more back in the day as i grew up so did my taste in music, and Graham made the exact same ponit i was thinking that other types of EDM have evolved and Trance has not mind you there is one "trance" Dj who i always try to catch and that is EDDIE!!!!

Reasons for the decline of trance's popularity:

1. New, good productions are rare
2. Other types of music have evolved whereas trance has stagnated
3. Trance parties suck, and the people at them are generally annoying
4. Trance music and parties used to be very popular, now it's passé
