let the girls suffer :disbelief
however, my parent's only dated for 3 months before my mom had to leave.
so my dad proposed to her and they got married.

Those stories exist, but they are few and far between it seems like nowadays.
I think people that get married without living together first are crazy, imo. |

yes. i think once you live together and see their true colors, and you STILL feel sane about living with that person- then you should be fine :o lol |

I can't tell you how many times I've seen couples move in together and think that 2-4 months of living together is enough to figure out if you can handle it. Uh.. no, you're still on good behavior! Wait til the guy does nasty like clip his toenails on the couch and :nervous:
YUK
He laughs at me because I have 2 bad habits which I will probably never get rid of. 1. I leave cups... everywhere. 2. Until I go to bed, I leave the lights on in rooms... I hate walking into a dark room! :nervous: |

FINALLY.
Thank God you're not a stupid chick.
And back three generations (yours, your parents, then your grandparents) - lifestyles were very different and what was and was not acceptable was different. People didn't get divorced then and there was still very little women in the workplace and they stayed home and raised the family - life was different. With life the way it is today (sex widely acceptable) you simply cannot compare todays teens to teens from 50-60 years ago. Worlds of differences. My grandparents are 9 years apart and got married after knowing each other 6 days and celebrated their 55th this year. Is that realistic in todays times? No. |
i think since the sexual revolution from the last couple decades marriage has been going to . it seems like cheating is almost socially acceptable nowadays- you see conflicts like that all the time on dramatic television and movies, etc.
that and imo people don't want to work with each other to solve their relationship problems. so divorce/breaking up becomes a quicker, easier solution. there's always going to be faults with a S/O- so if you can't communicate with each other and solve your problems together, how do you expect a marriage to work?
my parents, btw are still together. my dad is 63 and my mom is 58 |

a 31 year old with a 17 year old is ing creepy. if i pulled that stunt when i was 17, my dad would kick that mother******s ass so bad...actually, so would my mom lol and then they'd kick mine too.
omega blue: totally agree about cheating being socially acceptable. you see these scenes on tv where girls walk in on a guy ing someone else and she just makes a little snide remark like what's her name from sex in the city would (kim catrell's character). then she's having lunch with her girls an hour later like, "yea he cheated on me. oh well, i cheated on him last week so we're even". :stongue: |
