Most locals over here don't have the tiniest notion of how to warm-up properly, it's ridiculous. |
That's everywhere man :p

back in 05, Lavelle & Holden were playn @ my local club. Lavelle comes on & plays the worst set ive ever experienced. when he was done, there were people in the crowd "booing" & others screaming "you suck"
Holden comes on to cheers from the crowd & then proceeded to suck balls, only incrementally better than Lavelle
|
Same thing happened here. Lavelle is terrible. |

judge jules. he didn't get booed off stage, but the whole place just emptied. |
I was in Sundissential when Judge Jules got a serious booing. He was quoted in Mixmag as saying he wanted glowsticks to be banned so some girl collected as many of them as she could and threw them at him as he was leaving the club.
He never played again after that and from then on Sundissential used to have pictures of Jules on the VJ screens with a red cross over it :haha: |

back in 2003 or 2004, can't remember now, a new club opened in the suburbs close to Chicago. Satisfaction was really popular so they got Benny Bennassi for the grand opening... and proceeded to promote it to the completely wrong crowd.
two songs into his set, a small crowd on the left side of the booth (i don't think i need to mention what skin color 80% of the crowd was) started chanting "Hip-hop! HIP HOP!". soon enough half the crowd was chanting. we walked out right then and there, i heard afterwards he basically played another song and shut that down. told the promoters that he'd never come back to chicago.
i think he was just there w/ PvD last month tho. |

I've heard this a few times.
On another note, he played in a bar next to where I live - Bullet in Tamworth. God knows how the owner got him there, seriously must of been a mate of his. Its generally a fairly lively town bar, but never hosts any sort of 'famous' dj, the asking price was 5 pound on the door and needless to say the place was empty.
But... that said and done, my bro and his mates pretty much had an exclusive set from Jules, and instead of a house set as proposed.. He banged out trance instead!... |

I disagree. There are quite a few NYC locals who've done quite an impressive job opening. They know their roles and the music of the DJs that they're opening for quite often.
If I remember, you guys in LA don't seem to enjoy that. Who was that guy that opened for Sasha that used to play Usher tracks? |
