I agree, I meant that their force is horrible in a literary way, not that they have the quality of being horrid.

I consider the invention of nuclear weapons to be right up there with penicillin in terms of human achievement. Concurring the forces of nature and bending them to our will.

Hey, they used a lot of lead back then, and things were built to last in America!!! INCLUDING PROFESSORS! :whip: :toocool:

The recreation of Doomstown, USA though was pretty nice, the mannequins that they had in the houses looked very much like the ones used in the actual tests.

Maybe gas, using nitrogen asphyxiation (supposedly painless or nearly so).

you think suffocation is painless? LOL

though technically i suppose all methods of death will include aphyxiation.

the downside to all methods of death is that you'll probably linger for a lot longer than modern science claims.

Then you'll appreciate this.. Tsar Bomba - 57 megatons (original design was 100). Biggest bomb ever detonated.

I'm pretty sure most of them knew what was going to happen to the victims...

Oppenheimer quoted a Hindu text at Trinity saying "Now I am become death. The destroyer of worlds" where as the Trinity Site director, Kenneth Bainbridge, said this after the test "Now we are all sons of bitches."

They knew what they were playing with. They unleashed the most horrible basic forces of the universe upon the world.

yeah i know they knew what they were dealing with, but i doubt they sat down at a meeting and had a a brainstorming session where they were all like "yeah, and it would be so ing cool if it made you poop yourself, and when they're like 'omg how could this get any worse?' WHAM! your muscles melt!"

i would imagine the process was more like

step1: detonate nuclear bomb
step2: ???
step3: profit

RE: the whole cocaine v heroine thing. I'm sure heroine is lovely, I'd still like to go out in a flurry of blow and strippers. Just sayin', sounds a lot more fun than ODing in my ty studio apartment's bathroom with a belt strapped to my forearm and a dirty needle sticking out of me. I mean it's bad enough that that's how Abbos like Domesticated go out, I'm not gonna be in that pile. No sir, I have a job.

How about a belt around your neck, with your in your hand?

Yar, just one of those would have taken out half of the UK... :p

There were rumors, and they are pretty shoddy at best, that they actually deployed a similar device to the one they tested in East Berlin. The supposed idea being that if NATO forces pushed Warsaw Pact forces far enough back it would be used as a last ditch weapon.

Nitrogen asphyxiation doesn't involve suffocation.
