Ok, after finding out some facts before I was going to write on here. First of all the discounted list stop at 11pm. If he had a printout it clearly stated $15 dollars all night. There is no confusion on that. Thrid. There was a huge sign poster on the casheir wall and a small sign in front of the cahier window stating the John Askew wasnting going to be there. We actually didn't raise the price of the door. It was $20. Last but least he didn't ask for a manager, I would have gave him a refund or drink tickets. I think when he ask for a refund from johnny he spent several hours in the club already. But not sure. But, customer are always right. Mr Askew, we be spinning on Nov 7th, I will comp you 5 free tickets for you trouble and buy you guys the first round on the house sir. Also Dave T when was the last time you went to Circus, honestly you have a lot of points but to have it all the way from Frisco. Man I don't know what to say, people like Don, Greg, Michelle, and Josh truly have the right to comments but for you it just an opion bro. You might say I have the nerve but you should think about it. I truly understand there complaints. But Dave comon on bro. You need to come down here. Please answer my question ok. When was the last time you came to Circus? I bet you don't even know?
Peace love music dance |

I talked to the box office guy first who then pointed me in the direction of Johnny. I talked to him about everything, but it looks like I should have talked to someone else. I wasn't there just to party, been there, done that. I drove up from south san diego to see Askew.
I'm glad that someone understood that, I appreciate the offer for the tickets and the round of drinks and I'll take you up on it, I usually have a great time at circus so I would like to come back. Again, I appreciate the offer and i'll keep going to circus. |

I think most people see "something" posted on the wall or doors but just don't bother to stop and read it. I know I usually don't read it cuz I'm in a rush to go in.
The music is calling me! :happy2: |

Damn, I didn't see the sign either...but I'm not the most observant and I think I was distracted by some girls...I didn't find out Askew had canceled until I'd been there for a while. Great pinch-hitting by Norin and Rad. They've impressed me every time.
I just wanted to comment on the lighting/effects in the main room that night. I really liked it. It seemed a little darker than usual, with a little more fog than usual. I thought it was pretty bad-ass. I think that was the most time I've ever spent in the main room in one night. Usually I'm all over the place. The DJ's were great and it was a nice crowd out there too. I saw some new faces and they were having a good time. |

What a great great night at Circus yet again!!!
I was a little disappointed that John had to cancel.. but at the same time I wish for his speedy recovery. I will cross my fingers that he will get a extended set when he returns on Nov 7th. ;)
With that Said having Norin and Rad headline instead was awesome! They keep blowing me away and on that dance floor. Some of my friends who where seeing them for the 1st time where really impressed. I see a very bright future for these boys!!!
We where going to leave shortly after Norin and Rad but Pearl and Peilo kept me dancing.
I loved dancing back where the old booth was. (but I guess it isn't really old now) The sound was great the lights where great. If I got cold I just moved to the side.
I <3 Circus and can not wait for this weekend!!! YAY! |

+1
The energy level of their sets is insane. I've seen them 3 times since June (sadly, not this past Saturday though) and loved every single second of their sets.

In previous threads, I've noticed that the terms 'new' and 'old' cause minor confusion when describing the location of the dj booth. Perhaps 'dj booth under the loft' and 'dj booth near the curtain'? Any other suggestions?

The guestlist people pointed to the Askew cancellation notice on the table when we got our tickets. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about it either. I saw the note in a few spots inside Circus too but I admit the design didn't really catch people's attention.
I agree, the dj booth back in its old location was great. It should always be there for the "smaller" shows! Darker main room was also a plus.
It was my first time seeing Norin and Rad on Saturday and now I understand why people like them. I was dancing quite a bit and I don't even like fluffy trance! :D |

1. Customer is not always right
2. Signs just need to be blatantly obvious next time. And I'd make sure those at the booth, ticket window, and even security (at the entrance) are often saying it out vocally.
Again, what if it was a bigger DJ? Do you think those little signs would have sufficed? It's obvious they wouldn't have.
I always express how much clear communication is so important these days, especially with the internet. If this was 10-15 years ago, there were really no big boards and all to post on when you have a problem at a club. Well there are boards like this today so good communication is more important than ever. The more communication there is, the more knowledge and understanding the customer has, and in the end they will only appreciate it.
We all want Circus to do well. Despite our dire begging for the place to get a complete makeover, which we know will never happen, it can do well if it finds that right crowd...the hard part is maintainign that crowd, which Circus has had a difficult time doing the past few years. The club or promoter shouldnt patch up the issue or quiet situations by offering free comps after-the-fact...that's not good business. I know it's all learning pains and I know I don't say things in a nice way, but what I say is because I love seeing the scene grow and when I see things that could have easily been done, IMO, the irritation is me comes out!
And and BTW, I live in LA/Culver City... :p |

You have your points about remodeling, but I seen a lot of clubs closed down because of this as well. Circus has still maintain it nights. But the most important thing is that YOU didn't answer my question. When was the last time you been at circus? Comon dave, people who knows you told me you haven't been here in years! It seem like you answer every question except that one. Do I have a point My TAs? Second there was sign 13 by 19 posted at the cashier and all over the club, so if we went in and came right out, he would have got a refund but I thinking after talking to johnny he was in the club several hours and spent good money at the bar, thank you for this" he came out and ask for a refund can't finish the food and say you don't like it hahah lol
