CPU thing again

Ok piss takers stay away I am trying to resolve an issue im having with my cpu.

Recently when i use zeta in cubase sx3 or nexus to an extent if i play several notes i.e place i a high demand on the vst my cpu hits 100%.

If i leave alone it falls back to 0%

Now for those who can actually help this is what I have tried

1)System restore
2)Anti malware program
3)anti spyware
4)ccleaner for registry
5)clearing the temp folder
6)anti virus
7)defrag
8)updated drivers for soundcard gfx etc etc (even processor drivers)
9)looked at all running processes nothing unusual or infact even anything using any cpu
10)turning off running programs like avg free etc
11)running offline

and other general obvious things

I found a forum discussing cubase using a vst bridge or somehting for vsts without vst2? i couldnt understand it properly so i wonder if anyone with any knowledge could help.

Again piss takers leave it out please.

Woah. No need to be so defensive.

Try this:

Control + Shift + Escape (brings up task manager)

Right click on explorer.exe and click "end process tree"

Now create a new process, (Cubase SX3 obviously, but don't start explorer again)

Nothing else will be running in the background, just Cubase, ASIO, and z3ta.

Give that a shot.

Also, make doubly sure your CPU and GPU is getting adequately cooled.

Other thoughts:

Do you use wireless Ethernet drivers? If so... DISABLE them while doing audio production. That helped me SO MUCH in the past!

What are your system specs?
DjStephenWiley
Personally I'd contact Nexus. They have excellent customer support.

I am pretty sure you have too small latency on your soundcard, try adjusting it up to 512 or 1024 samples.
Sonic_c
Thanks fellas

System specs are

AMD athlon 64 x2 Dual core 400+ (2.3ghz ish)
2MG DDR2 ram (thought i had more)
EMU 0404 pci sound
Win XP SP3

I do use wireless so will try to turn that off, also my sound cards UI runs in explorer so I cant shut explorer down i dont think.

Subtle I thought that too so i increased my latency buffer to maximum 100ms (its emu) so not in samples and it didnt help in the slightest.

Its more z3ta than Nexus but just generally running loads higher than it used too.

I must mention that before maybe two weeks ago I could load my pc with several vsts and it would be fine. Its a recent problem.

Could it be upgrading to Win XP service pack 3 i have heard of this happening?

Yeah. We need more details on your system specs AND your audio hardware setup.

EDIT: NM

Ok what more would you need about my system and i will give.

Interesting point though I just removed SP3 and its better like quite a bit better its still cpu hungry but now those big patches are hitting 50% and not 100%

Still way more than before but workable now (ish)

Ugh, I hate windows. Few days ago I was forced to install windows media player 11 in order to use my mp3 player, because windows doesn't know how to deal with MTP devices. DRM crap.
Sonic_c
Lol now my msn messager and some other things are screwed fkin microsoft

Maby you should look into getting a virtual machine. Then the only time you have to use windows is with your audio production. Unelss you are feeling brave and want to use wine/hackintosh. VMs are better than dual boot, because you don't have to reboot to switch the OS.
Sonic_c
totally lost me virtual machine?
