| I must say the superwave vsti's are great. The trance pro is the for making leads imo. They are all great. |

Is it worth $399? |

only problem with atmosphere is it's sample based.. which leads to hardware quality sound but you can't edit the sounds at all aside from ADSR.. for trance I would say you're better off getting a jp-8080 for 100 more than buying atmosphere..
stylus and trilogy are definitly not worth what they are asking for.. stylus is all loops and trilogy is 2/3 bass guitars.. |

Hi,
I'm looking for a good softsynth for making stings..Which one is good and where can I get a demo? |

For the most part, to get great string sounds, you need sampled strings. So a great string library is where its at. Atmosphere is awesome. Halion String Edition is pretty nice. Sampletank is great as well. Just wanted to clarify that you can't make strings, i.e. synthesize them. At least not yet. :)
Good luck.

It's not easy but it is possible.
For strings, Edirol HQ orchestral is a nice program with a decent sound to it.
As for Atmosphere only having ADSR, that's pushing it a bit. You can do more to the sound than just fiddle with the envelope, although compared to most programs, it is relatively inflexible. The thing about it is that the sounds are soo bloody good, they can often go straight in. The patches are a combination of sounds so you control the level of these sounds to make the patch. I guess really this just makes it a 2x multitimbral sample player. Who cares though, it sounds great. |
