FXpansion - DCAM: Synth Squad Out Now
View this Thread in Original format

I've been keeping an eye on this for a while now, and its finally out. The idea of new synths "modeled after vintage" intrigues me.

Here is what they say:

quote:

DCAM: Synth Squad finally delivers the satisfaction of playing real analogue instruments in software! Advanced modelling technology carefully reconstructs the soul of dusty vintage circuits within your computer, for the unmatched vibe of hardware at a fraction of the cost.

I wont comment on the accuracy of their claims. Demo's sound pretty cool, but I can never really tell anything from demo sounds.

Anyway, check it out.

I was on the sound design team for this synth and can tell you from first hand experience Synth Squad is absolutely amazing. Everything can modulate just about everything else and the Fusor environment just takes that to a whole new level because you can use Fusor's extra LFO's + Envelopes to modulate any of the 3 synth's parameters on top of all the other options Fusor allows.
The sound quality definitely has a warmth to it...even the Cypher "FM" synth as it follows a different algorithm than typical "DX" style FM. The filters have a distinctly "analog" grunge to them and there are a ton of different filter shapes to use.

I've been watching this as (even though I really don't need any more soft synths) and it does look pretty incredible and versatile. The price sure is good - 3 synths plus Fusor for $249 USD! No demo yet, though. Of course, the major downside is that it's a brand new release of not just one, but four, semi-modular synths by a pretty small company, so I wouldn't expect the initial bugs to be worked out for a while.

well, this synths shouldn't be that buggy as they are in development since years. beside that if you want to hear how they sound just listen to deadmau5 tracks. the synth sounds in e.g. 'Faxing Berlin' and 'I Remember' are from the Strobe synth. (and many other releases from him aswell)

Just bought the package. Can't wait until I have some time to try them out.

Been following this too for a while and Strobe sounds effing amazing. Great price too for 3 synths and a rack-thingie.

Has anybody bought this? Considering this, Omnisphere, and Absynth. As you can probably tell, I'm looking for the holy grail of pad synths.
