lol i'm done with this flame war...its truely pointless.
Anywhoo,
Yeah my main thing i would like to see is a tighter loop function.
I think that if they add the USB support they are going to have to really find a GOOD way to search through the possible thousands of files that DJ's can have. That's my main concern with the whole USB idea.
As far as CD's though, i doubt that will go out for a long time. |

i love how everyone is already fighting about it and we don't even know what this new unit will have
any DVS still doesn't operate at a full 100% stability, there's still a concern that it will crash or screw up in a gig (i saw it myself on friday)
as much as i'd love to ditch carrying around a big record bag full of cds, i still don't trust any DVS to make a full switch just yet, i'll be using cds for a few more years probably
i'd like to see what this new unit offers before passing any sort of judgement |

so you'd drop your DVS to buy something that does the exact same thing? just a smaller screen? |
Well, obviously I wouldn't get rid of what I have now per se, I'm talking more in terms of future buyers. |

Exactly, and it's not just stability (even though they ARE really stable now) issues with DVS's, it's booth space, problems setting up/tearing down when playing with other DJ's, and of course lugging a $2000 laptop into a booth full of cocktails, smoke, etc.
Most people who are using DVS's do so because it's nice to have a big jukebox of your tracks, playlists/crates, etc that you can easily search through. If the browsing interface on this new player is really good, I can see a lot of people using it when playing out rather then setting up a PC and all of that. It's the same luxury one has now with showing up with a CD book and headphones, except now you don't have to burn CD's and you can find things easier.
On the other hand, applications like Traktor Scratch Pro give you a lot of additional features such as advanced looping, effects, 4 decks, etc, so I think there is room for both in the market place.

i'm liking the idea of going into a club with 2 usb thumb drives and my headphones and rocking a show out, i just didn't like the interface with the 400
if we're getting all that media expandability in a 1000 chassis with a nice screen to go through and display said media, i'm game
for now though, we play the waiting game |
