eww. I WISH people would stop playing this. I LOVE LOVE Cosmic gate but they really f*cked this remix up. IMO, if you have the choice of playing the original or CG remix, WHY oh WHY would you play the remix. It totally misses the point, in comparison of the two. :conf:

this also applies to the other 99% of classic tracks that are remixed for 'todays' sound.

The only problem is that today's "sound" is pretty dissimilar in terms of dynamics / structure.. Kudos to some for their attempts to revamp the oldies but often times you just end up pissing off the veterans. hahah.
Side note: I ing well loathe that remix of Carte Blanche, then again the original never really did much for me either.
*ducks for cover*

It's a really tough balance to hit, especially when you have people who have been following Markus for years - they expect him to play in a certain "usual" form - "Perspective Space", classic Coldharbour bangers, etc. and still try to keep somewhat upfront with the "new" stuff. Swing too hard one way and you get flamed, swing too hard the other and you'll get flamed even HARDER. Admitedly the material he plays in his sets isn't for me (two great tracks mashed together generally equals e, but feel free to prove me incorrect) but judging from what I've seen / heard he does a pretty great job of managing a solid balance of both so fair play to him! That's a hallmark of a truly great DJ.

Company is always the best part!! :) Our dance-offs should happen more often! :p:D
Overall, I had a fantastic night. I much preferred this 6 hour set to the one last september (less fluff since it wasn't a GDJBC). The best part of the set was definitely the last 2 hours, when he played dirty, lovely progressive trance. THAT is Markus Schulz. Wippenberg - Earth was the tune of the night for me (we were all going insane for this eh Kris??). Unfortunately, it was a horrible sauna in there. I think b/c of the heat and the sound I may be giving up on our "front and left" spot. The sound is a billion times better in the middle or the back. Only 2 complaints: CAN EVERYBODY PLEASE STOP PLAYING CHAKALAKA AND IN AND OUT OF CONNECTION. Both good tracks, but our ears need a nice long break. Also, I found he was playing too slow later on in the night (i.e. around 5 am) when he should have been slamming it nice and fast.
Sidenote, Carlo Lio is a god. Cam, you were awesome too! Sorry I couldn't stay in there to watch you longer, but trance calls.

Yeah at one point they set up a giant fan on stage behind Markus. I boged it for a bit :P
And he did slow it down a bit too much near the end. Then again, at that point it felt like someone had taken a potato peeler to my calves and hamstrings, so I wasn't dancing much anyway
