I don't wanna get involved in you guys argument but this is definitely not true. This in fact is how he stays on top despite all of the negative press that surrounds him. He is a brand; an image, and a huge ass team. Tiesto himself and his talent does very little to keep himself at the top. It's all about sales. He has the mainstream market tapped and that's why he will continue to reside at the top despite many of his problems and lackings.

This.. Tiesto was the first dj that ever got me into trance music period.. saw him in 2000 and he dropped his remix of Silence and all the other goodies he was flogging around the magik 6 period.. my favourite party ever :D

I'm sorry Stephen, but your post is utter bull. It's your opinion, so don't period us! So what if he played a lot of the same tracks Oalkenfold played. When you where just a baby boy, Tiësto already was producing and DJ-ing. The first tracks, he produced himself, after that, he got a producer team behind him which - till this day - produces his tracks for him. Who are you to say that he doesn't give a damn about making quality music!

I'm getting so sick of some ignorant pricks that - probably out of jealousy - flame another DJ. Tiësto did a lot for trance music in general, and still does. I've seen him play a couple of times and it was really great!! He really deserved it to be no1 DJ of the world.

Period. ;)

Sorry to go off-topic, but Melodyne DNA hasn't been released yet and even the public beta release has been delayed until at least September, from what I've been hearing. How are you using it already?!

Back to school for all of you :whip:

You are complete ing noobs if you think Tiesto did it all first.

That crown, without doubt goes to Paul Oakenfold. Not hat I;m much of a fan anymore but there really is no discussion on this.

The first DJ to play a stadium gig. The first DJ to play to 100,000+. The first DJ to have a no.1 hit. The first DJ to break the states. The first DJ to remix the big bands such as U2. The first DJ to do a film Score. This list really is endless.

For s sake, HE brought dance music back from Ibiza to the masses. Without him, Tiesto would be playing hiphop (which might actually happen).

In fact Tiesto is probably in to Trance because of Oakenfold's mix tapes.

I've been in to dance music for about 15 years, I remember picking up productions from the record store by Tiesto in 1996.

Back them his productions were actually quite good and he was pushing the envelope for trance.

However what he pukes out now is a shallow and vulgar shadow of his former talents and anyone who has been around long enough or bothers to do some research knows this. He really has turned in to a money hungry pop producer under the rather poor disguise of "trance DJ". Why is no.1 on the DJ polls? Becuase 14 year olds who don;t know any better vote for in the 100's of 1000's, and let's face they're the only people who care about top DJ polls anyway.

There is so much evidence out there that his ethics relating to music and other producers work are amongst the lowest in the industry.

No no, he's expressing himself artistically.

sounds like tiesto should get together with p diddy, they'd have the whole world sampled. and the fact diddy is worth over 350mm with all the music he's 'stolen' makes tiesto look small time.

Well, I guess the week wouldn't be complete without a good old fashioned Tiesto bashing thread on TA, huh? Regardless of how you feel about him or "his" music, don't you guys ever bored with rehashing this same old tired topic? I know I do, so next week, let's bash Oakenfold instead. :p

ReclusNdangrmnt
Of course no one seems to realize(Or, someone does but hasn't pointed it out) that both releases are a cover of Format - Solid Session. The Mac and Mac version actually credits it, but I don't think the Ram version does (Haven't seen any mention of the original at least).
