Planet Rock also contains more edm elements than urban imo. most people call Planet rock a dance song not a hip hop song

Even tho its a old song I dont think its dated it still sounds good

um.. believe it or not, I happen to know Afrika Bambaataa. I've brought him to Toronto 3 times and done 3 Canadian tours with him... driving across Ontario and Quebec. The stories he has are amazing!

Planet Rock sampled Kraftwerk "trans-europe express".

Planet Rock is most definitely not dance music.. The Hip Hop movement then was about dancing and b-boying.. still doesn't make in dance music in the sense the way that you know it.

Planet rock is most definitely hip hop. Hip hop in those days didn't have a specific sound. it borrowed from elements of funk, disco, rock among other genres. What people consider urban music now, didn't even exist in 1982. Planet Rock spawned electro funk, miami bass, freestyle among other genres, not to mention pushing hip hop into the mainstream.

It can be really good but really bad.

Really good if:

-Its commercial music and stays within the commercial scene
-produced by new artists
-doesnt not take over the genre squeezing out real house and techno

Really bad if:

-Underground DJs and serious parties start playing this sound
-Established artists produce this and nothing else (starting to happen but i could care less about guetta and tiestical)
-this sound takes over everything else

I dont mind it if done properly. Trance and Euro used to be the gateway into house and techno. This isnt much different. The potential is there though for everyone to catch the bandwagon much like what happened with so called "electro" and that would be bad

Trance is an evolution of techno (from detroit) and disco/house(New York) that flourished in the New York gay scene and then later Manchester England. Most of the original trance DJs were gay black men.

Im talking Trance here dude House is technically a form of hip hop not the other way around House djs copied what Hip hop djs did

Trance Music was its own style that was copied by others

While I'm the furthest thing from PC and pretty much everybody here can confirm that, you seem to divide everything along racial lines. If it's made by white people then it must be EDM. If it's made by black people then it's urban. That, again, is completely retarded.

Your reading & comprehension skills are worse than mine

eminem is not edm because hes white, he is urban because he makes ..... music

race as well as religion ethnicity enviornment are all factors in the music

Kind of hard for us to take you seriously when you come right out and say that trance is not EDM (electronic music).

Trance existed b4 the electronic elements were added, Trance as a style of music is older than you know thats why it can reach your mind body & soul

You weren't doing it before the pros were, you're not a trendsetter, and your bull comments about how all of the major producers will fail because they're not doing it "from the heart" is so much bombastic emotional masturbation

I have done it b4 them actually I been doing it & showing you what more proof do you need?

music only means something when it comes from the heart thats why you all love trance music because it comes from the heart & stimulates your mind soul & bodies, major producers will fail at making sonically creative songs ( new producers will come in & replace the old ones)but monetarily they will get rich off it
