Paul Van Dyk delivered. Anyone who says otherwise hasnt learned how to appreciate the next generation of trance performances. Keyboarding, drummers, light system was alright, no lasers tho.
Theres one thing though that I noticed. Sound system at times sucked and the sound engineer sucked as well.
Although I dont have a tracklist, one moment of the night came when he dropped Simon Patterson - Thump :eyespop: :eyespop:
Other songs he played were What the , For an Angel 2009, a Micheal Jackson remix, 1998, Kernkraft 400, Pjano, New York City, Times of our Lives (live vocal), and Home (live vocal)
No crush though:(
NO RAIN EITHER. <--- good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.
This was probably the earliest I have ever arrived to any trance performance. Got there around 4:00pm. Willcall only had a few people and I was able to get my ticket once it opened and get in line at about 4:30pm. Gates opened at 5:30pm because the PVD Crew was still doing sound checks and light checks, as well as practicing the singing of PVD - Home. Some kid fainted in line, lips turned blue and an ambulance got called, he was released, and 5 min later, starts fainting again. As said gates opened around 5:30pm, PVD NYE flyer is handed out, along with Tiesto and other Pacha events. PVD took pictures with the first people that made it in and signed autographs. Opening was nice, bongo drummer was really into it, so was the other drummer.
Crowd, well, you had a mix of everything in there. Older crowd to be honest, but then again PVD has been around for a while.
If you had to go to the bathroom, good luck, cuz it looked like a line for a six flags ride on a bad day.
Food and beer were easily available, saw no lines at all there.
Live singing was nice, and once it ended, it ended, no encore by PVD.
Not sure if this was broadcasted on Sirius.
Was it a set that kept me dancing all the time? No. But was it a great set? Yes it was, it was a great performance by one of the DJs thats been in this scene for quite some time. I respect PVD a lot more after tonight, regardless of whether anyone agrees or not.
Should you go see him on NYE? YES.

Paul was ing sick, i have no words, the guy destroyed the place like no other, if paul van dyk was a religion, i'd follow it with passion. one of the most epic gig of the year for me.he dropped some sick mashups, some of his own classic stuff, some unexpected classics like Children and Zombie Nation and some great live stuff with Jhonny McDaid. Live keyboards, Drums and Bongs, so mcuh good stuff. The crowd was amazing, weather was perfect, plenty of cute girls. Only con of the night was the line for the restroom. But everything els was perfect. Uploading vids now, should be up in a bit.
the mashup he played of orange bill vs New york city(without vocals) was sooo sickkkkkkkkk

Wasn't happy with tonights performance at all... Seemed more like a musical to me than anything else. The drummers were cool the first hour... after then, it just got old and it ruined the tracks. The drummers got WAY too corny. Not to mention every time they hit something, it would make the track itself fade away. Really annoying after a while. The night was a waste of money IMO, very disappointed with the entire show. His tracks were inconsistent, although I did enjoy "Dakota - Johnny the Fox " a lot and "Thomas Bronzwater - Look Ahead". He had a few good build ups, but the looping just got repetitive, then it was back to being mellow with a long break in between drops. The sound quality was "okay". Not enough bass IMO, and it could've been a little louder. Music wasn't loud enough?, or maybe that was just me. Also, what was with the 5 Urinals on each side? Waited on line for 20+ Minutes. Well, other than that, that's the last of PVD for me.

PvD was playing a nice set but those stupid drummers ruined all the tracks...I felt like in a rock concert more than a rave:whip:
ah and the sound system at CP sucks.

Wow, I would've loved to hear Children live. Bet that was awesome. Not too surprised about the mixed reviews. I remember a few years ago when they first experimented w/a live drummer. Pretty terrible idea for trance. Sound isn't that great in CP either. Was it any better at the Pier?
