oh I'm all for that spending a fun night with friends (and being excited about that) - my point is you don't need an "event" like this.. it can happen any saturday or friday night if people want to have fun and do stuff together
I just remember my disappointment when I would get to most of the exhibits and be like - "oh, this is it?" |

i love the atmosphere. everyone seems to be enjoying themselves with whoever their with during this night. |
that's true but watch out if you're biking around. last year some drunk idiot tried to high-five me as i rode by and held on to my arm causing me to be thrown off my bike. luckily i was ok but i think i'm going to walk/ttc it this year. |

It's not every night that the entire city seemingly bursts to life until the sun comes up.
The times I've gone, it seems like everyone is out, in a good mood and a generally 'positive' vibe. It's an excuse to run around the city with friends, be silly, see some good art, some bad art and going with the flow.
Some of the installations were pretty cool last year and I had a great time, and it wasn't the kind of night "I could have any other time of the year"
Perhaps me lacking in art-snobbery to lift my nose at bad things combined with a 'go with the flow' to take the "wtf?" things in stride is what let me enjoy my night so much last year. |

I did this for the first time last year and LOVED IT!!! i think i have a few vids and pics i can post :) Def. doing it again, and highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't done it before.
The city is def. a lot more alive than usual, crazy vibe....it's ing wikked.
To re-affirm a few good points already made.
DON'T DO IT WITH A LARGE GROUP. Some parts of town are super crowded with ppl, it's way too hard to stick together. Our large group last year was split in two because everyone was fighting about what exhibits to go to. It slowed things down for everyone, and was beyond annoying.
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES (or ya, ride a bike). It's A LOT of walking...but so worth it.
It def. helps to plan your route ahead of time, and pick exhibits that you want to see the most. You most likely won't see everything...even if you intend to try. It's exhausting. |

| Hmmm may check this out this year! Last year I spend the night at the Guv instead of doing enriching things such as this, so I'm petty tempted to check it out! |

- AVOID ANYTHING WITH A LINE/INDOORS
Key to my enjoyment last year - if I saw a lineup, I kept on moving. There is so much stuff to hit up that waiting in lines seems like a total waste and is a sure-fire way to put you into a bad mood.
The only indoor thing I did last year was watch Buster Keaton movies accompanied by a live piano player at the very end of the night - and even that was 'accidental', some guy started to usher me and my friends inside as we walked past a door so decided to just go with the flow -- was a great way to end off the night after running around in the cold. |
