so we play today.

a game between brazil and argentina is like the final of the Champions league;
a friendly match doesn't exist between us, even if it's a friendly match, we don't hold back.

es un super clasico, like Real Madrid vs Barcelona; Inter vs Milan; etc.

a lot great games in our history.

predictions?

2-1 argentina.

puts on his vintage number 10 jersey, not for maradona (read sig) but for our new # 10

I'm staying up to watch it. There is no bigger meeting in world football. I've seen three of these: 3-0 Brazil in the Copa America final, 3-0 Brazil in a friendly at Wembley, 3-1 Argentina in a WC qualifier. So I expect goals.

I predict a Brazil victory. 3-1 scoreline, at a guess.

Oh yeah, i'm staying up for it. I hope argies win though, in the last 10 years they've played better flowing south american style football than brazil who have been quite attritional at times.

I'd agree that the football Argentina were playing at the last Copa America and World Cup was absolutely breathtaking. However, under Maradona they're not the same side.

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope Brazil win and Argentina don't qualify. It would be one less big team for England to lose to next summer.

What time is the match? I've got to do some shopping, and I'm short of time :p

lol. maybe we could just wish that both don't qualify, and bolivia, paraguay, chile and uruguay or something do.

As for maradona, I do agree, he's an awful coach, like many great players, he can't handle the other side of the game, but the talent in the argie side does make me hope for goodness.

a world cup without argentina and brazil would not be a world cup

What channel is it on in the states? Viewing it on PPV will cost $34, and I can wait until monday to watch it on ESPN. Are they airing it live on any other channels?

BTW, Brasil is going to win. Maradona isn't impressive as a coach, and and Brasil is in top form right now. Why isn't he calling up Higuain, the saviour of Real Madrid last year?

1.30am, GMT.

And what is it with TAs unable to support their own football? It's bad enough with all the Brazilians, Americans and Aussies saying "us" for Liverpool and Chelsea, but to forsake your national side? What the ?
