i never said that i did not agree with what aflyonthewall said... im just saying that who is he to say what should and should not be on someone elses website? |
If he (and us) are the consumers, would it not be in the best interest of the vendor to listen to what the people want? |

or clearly the guy that does the website updates has lots of sites to deal with (guv, TIL, dragonfly, ultra, spice route, etc) and i know he has been busy with the new ink site as well so maybe he has a lot on his plate?
|
Perhaps - but there is a point to be made. There shouldn't be one person covering that much ground and if so there should definitely be a streamlined means to efficiently update / generate content.

That and mySpace search for "Footwork Toronto" ;) |
Zero f*cking excuse for that. Myspace should not be any businesses' first port of call on the internet. Ugggh! |

and also...none of us are telling how to run the site. We are simply making a helpful suggestion that will lead to better information and happier customers. |

I'm so sick of all the "what the people want" bull...
But I'm not gonna get into a back in the day rant... |

Love some of the comments here.
Being sort-of in the web business, I can say from experience that there seems to be a never-ending war between the marketing/graphic design camp and the development/usability camp. Camp A says that the web site must be flashy and enticing above all else. Camp B says that content is king, and the most important thing when you visit a website is to be able to find the information you're looking for.
Camp B is right - at least in the long term. A web site is far, far more valuable as a tool for creating customer loyalty than as a marketing gimmick. Marketing is "push", the web is "pull", most people won't go out of their way to read a giant advertisement just because it's cool. But Camp A usually wins the battles because they're closer to the hearts and minds of the business owners, and their results are easier to measure.
As for updates, a good web site should be designed so that updates are either automatic or take a few minutes at most to do. If you're actually paying a "web guy" $100/hr just to update your event calendar then you're throwing away money. |

testament once again that the tranceaddict events forum is the most accurate and informative place to find party info... |
absolutely! When I travel to TO, NYC or Boston even, I always check TA for the parties going on.
The Toronto events section is 2nd to none on TA. The NYC/Boston events section is pretty damn good too. Montreal's is lacking, but normally scoping the first couple threads should give you an idea of what's going on that weekend. |

| I haven't read the whole thread, but I'm all for clubs updating their websites. I don't find that much of a problem for Toronto and the rest of Southern Ontario (thank for god TOTA), but if I'm visiting another country or city, it'd be nice to have updated websites since I'm not always aware of sites similar to the "TOTA Events Forum". |

| I wanted to find out the date for sasha at the guv. Naturally I went to the guvs website to find no mention of sasha in november. I think they used to be better at getting the upcoming concerts and djs listed. |
