I wanted to find out the date for sasha at the guv. Naturally I went to the guvs website to find no mention of sasha in november. I think they used to be better at getting the upcoming concerts and djs listed. |
november is too far away for them to put it on their website.
also, the flyer hasnt even been made yet so you will not see it on there. |

november isn't really that far off. If he's here in early november then its under two months. Some of us old timers need about two months notice to get the joints limbered up for a full night out. :) |

Plus you always hear about concerts for major bands and stand up acts months in advance so people have a chance to look at different options. |

Who cares about the artwork.....just provide the info....like Digi said....content over design....
anyway...the Guv site is a little disjointed in that is does not provide a complete snapshot of what is going on in the complex...but that is not nearly as bad as what got me going...and that was that as of yesterday...the Circus (monteral) site was showing its program for July...that's like Cineplex telling you what movies were playing two months ago....dumb! |

yeah but guv doesnt like to release events so early.
i mean.. its kinda like promoters promoting events months ahead of time. it is pointless people people see it at first and think "okay im going" but after a while they forget about it. |

I can buy that...makes sense...but what does not make sense it the fact that this week there is an event in Gallery with Carlo Lio...extended set in Acid Lounge with Cam Maxwell...and there is no mention of it on their site...I know they can put whatever they want on it...but its like Ebay only listing auctions for "Fine CHina" when they have hundreds of categories with auctions happening...or the Toronto Star only providing Business news....it's just not logical.... |

Also, from a business perspective (this may or may not be true), but I would think that if they promoted more than one big event at a time (i.e. Labour of Love and Guv Anniversary), patrons might think "oh, I like the line up better at the Guv Anniversary, so I'll skip Labour of Love and go to the one party instead of both" |

acid lounge is never really promoted anywhere. the room holds like 40 people. its just a "filler" room basically. as for gallery i dont know why its not on the site.

exactly. better to have people come out for multiple events than to just pick one. |

I hate those websites because, whether the information is there or not, they are too flash-intensive and have annoying ing music that I have to find the "stop" button for.
Flash-based websites are a bane on the internetz. There's a reason Google has worked for years and years, and there's a reason that "Gamefaqs" is still one of the more popular gaming websites on the net. Also, sites like wikipedia, dictionary.com, Ebay, Amazon, etc.
What all these long-lasting, net-leaders have in common is that they simply provide the info, and all the flashy gimmicks come secondary.
Club websites need to cut out all their stupid gimmickry, and provide the information that people visiting their website want. There are probably THOUSANDS of potential customers that have visited the Guv website and said " this, I don't even know who's spinning." Jay, you're right, they can put whatever the hell they want to put up on their website. But it's a waste of money on two fronts! They pay a web-manager to do a useless job, and then LOSE potential customers because that web-manager is busy making annoying flash-based gimmick sites, instead of providing useful information.
Put the ing flash graphics into a web-banner and let TA do the flashy advertising at the top of their website. |

facebook pretty much allows an average user to easily manage content such as photos, video, guestlists, events calendar, club info, etc with virtually no turnaround time
clubs that don't have a facebook public profile or at least an official group are missing out huge... even twitter is pretty good for clubs imo |

That's cuz the club itself technically should no longer exist.... |
