^ Fantastic piece, but the simplicity of it doesn't make it ideal for an audition.

Scott Joplin - The Entertainer

Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune

^ I'd go with one of these two.

Debussy for the sheer beauty of it, but Joplin for optimal awesomeness.

my preference of choice in order of favorite pieces:

1. Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune

2. J. S. Bach - Air on the G String

3. Franz Schubert - Ave Maria

4. Vivaldi - "Spring" from The Four Seasons

5. Tchaikovsky - March from The Nutcracker

6. Scott Joplin - The Entertainer

i know some people love The Entertainer, but i think after listening to that song nonstop on loop once every 15 minutes 8 hours straight for 1 year has left me a bad aftertaste. :(

btw, what instrument are you playing?

Flute :)

and I agree with Entertainer... after having practiced it for an hour, I was almost totally sick of it. It is an awesome bouncey kinda tune though

Ave Maria is definitely the simplest of the 6... but I was thinking I could "move" them with it lol

I can put a lot of emotion into those half notes :D

but ya... I am leaning towards Clair de Lune. It's complex enough to show some skills, but not so crazy that I can't focus on playing beautifully as opposed to just hitting the right notes and keeping the rhythm.

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - Flight of the Bumblebee

i once played this as a flute audition...they liked :gsmile:

In that case I change my nomination to Debussy only.

are you serious?

was it 2/4 time? My fingers can't fly that fast

even if it was 4/4... that's still crazy impressive
