Bonjour Montreal TA's. I just moved here from BC to learn French at McGill. Kinda doing it for my profession, but love Montreal and excited to be here and learn the language. I also really like the nightlife/culture so far. Anyone that has partied in Vancouver knows what I mean!
I only DJ here and there for fun. I have been doing it for a decade, but stopped mostly because of work and university. However, I would love to play some space/nu disco, balaeric, classics, and deep house wherever possible. I also play a lot of tech house/techno but not feeling it so much these days....
Anyone have any suggestions/contacts they'd be willing to share?!
Merci beaucoup d'avance! |

Obviously the choice is more limited since you are here Sunday - Wednesday.
Piknic Electronik on Sunday afternoon/evening is a Montreal must see. Piknic Electronik on Sunday the 30th will feature the Ninja Tune label, with Amon tobin headlining. The best of breakbeat, dubstep, dancehall, grime, hip hop, all day long, with Amon Tobin delivering some of the best IDM there is. I mean there is not much sale skills involved here. Amon Tobin for 10$ is quite rare, seeing as he also does a gig the day before in New York and it's 30US, and its only him. But be warned, the Ninja Tune days at Piknic are for more adventurous electronic music, not necessarily four to floor, not necessarily straight dance music. It's all about dirty bass and twisted sounds.
But other than that, i'm afraid there is not much going on on that particular week. Only weekly events.
Dizzyphunk Tuesdays @ Salon Daomé is probably your best bet though, especially if you enjoy minimal techno and tech-house. Salon Daomé is a small intimate venue.
I hope other TAs can find you some other nice parties to attend! |
