ok i'll give this a shot.

house
ricardo villalobos
luciano
raresh

trance
sven
lee burridge
danny howells

*like seriously trance, but those 3 guys have played an odd trancer or 2 before, so maybe they can each put on one trance record and we can be done with the plur for the night and just fist pump the rest while singing a long to chinga putana all night*

could you imgagine how the 450 fake tan crew would not know what to do with themselves as lee dropped "acid in my fridge"?
Enjoy

i would go to that one too even if nick warren bores the piss out of me.

ricardo makes galuzzi look like a little girl, a scary one, but still:p

he is also a way better dj than luciano.

For Spin...: proof that I am always right

put associations aside for a second martin, and as a pure music fan if you were given the task of making a 6 name international lineup...go!

warning: dubfire will be a problem as bell center is too far from the center of the earth to be underground enough:p

heheh, I wasn't doubting his intro but the track that used up a chunk of his set, Ribcage I believe, put many of us to sleep right in middle of his set. He banged it out at the end though.

Nice lineup choices there...$10 to see them at Piknic too at different times.

So, who was that front row hottie at Piknic? ;):p

i've seen all those guys (minus burridge who i have seen but not on a big stage) rock the out of huge festivals. Never fail guys with the big parties imo No one knows who raresh is here (yet hopefully), but that young man is a next level dj and it is amazing how deep he can reach into his bag to pull out that forgotten classic that makes you your pants on the dance floor at such a young age.

It would be a sell out guarantee with a lot of US dollars coming in. I'm a little biased though as i pretty much listed my fav djs (not that into sven anymore, but a draw he would be).

This is dream land anyway. There is no way this event would ever happen.

You are all way more knowledgeable about DJs than me, since I never, never listen to other DJs live mix and only buy separate tracks.

But I will tell you that what I miss the most were line-ups of DJs that had the ability of building a logical musical flow for 12 hours. They had the understanding, ability, humility and respect of continuity. And that was what made those big massive musically powerful and unforgettable. Cause the flow, is actually way more important than individuals tracks or individual performances.

Today it feels like each DJ is a show on it's own, with no sense of what is before and after. You have the #1 of house, #1 of trance, the #1 of gay circuit, #1 of whatever... please tranceheads, househeads, minimalheads, clubbers, straight, gays... and what you get is complete chaos of single performances that last 1-2 hours.

I wouldn't suggest DJ names, but what I would suggest is to find an identity to each massive, and stop the mismatching.

2- Give at least 2-3 hours EACH to actually build something worthwile, you can't do anything good under 2 hours (aside live acts).

3- Local DJs are always put in though spots, playing at low volumes, when room is empty. They are expected to shine without any tools.

I remember 514 mixing some local talent like Lafleche right in the middle of the night, or at least, in moments where they could actually impress. Therefore building a strong local brand, put money on their horses, and build strong nights outside of the massive.

fair enough and i agree with most.

you are right about the local talent thing as well. This city has more then a few guys that could not get the time of day here, only to move to europe and strike it big. I'd like to see pheek do a big room set, because it would be very interesting to see how he would approach it because it would be a little different i think then what he would usually play to.

Guillaume has played a few big stages since his exodus.

I hear some DJs say this and I think its a huge mistake. They think the best way to tailor their style is to isolate themselves, but its just the opposite. Exposing yourself to what many other people are doing, not doing what you dislike, and incorporating the parts you do (putting your own twist on them) is a fundamental part of the creative process. It applies to all media. It's like travel: the more places you go, the more you understand yourself. I know you're going to say its subjective, but if you really tried it I think you'd be happy with the result. At least give it a shot.

What you (we) care about = good music and a good vibe
What they (the promoters) care about = $$$
They throw the party.
I doubt this will ever change for the massives, unless you get an investor with deep pockets and an appreciation of what this scene really has the potential to offer. Sadly, that's a rare combination.
