So this is my first thread here cuz I need some serious help. So, I have to make a non-american dish that would feed ~30 for a high school class. I want to go French so if anyone knows of something French (finger food kind of stuff) that I could make 30 of without wasting to much money that would be great.

there's a recipe thread somewhere in here and are you an experienced cook? if not, i wouldn't recommend french finger food for a huge group for your first shot at cooking for people lol

do some kind of meat on a stick/shish kebabs with greek or indian type of dipping sauces. can't go wrong.
lenazi
take brie
slice brie
serve on baguette
get praise.

Well I'm not experienced per se but I have cooked for people before. I'm just a 17 yr old aspiring chef :) . I do like Indian food though, I never really thought about doing that. Maybe I'll look further into some Indian food.

brie + baguette = delicious, sure. But I want to try something that's actually challenging, you know? It's not often I get a chance to cook for 30 people.

i would definitely throw a bunch of meat and veggies on the grill and just concentrate on some cool dipping sauces then. 30 people is a lot of people to cook for and french food is hard as to master.

spanish food is easy to make too if you can do beans and rice and some chicken and meat on the grill with onion/pepper toppings.

I watch this show a lot...French food doesn't have to be hard at all. She does things that are simple to do, and very elegant.

I used to hate her show...but she grew on me.

as a guy that knows french food pretty well, can cook it well, i would not attempt to cook for 30 without assistance, a proper kitchen, and a huge budget.

you might want to do a peasant style food (see stew or slow cooking easier to do meal) for that amount.

you could make coq au vin, which is classic french peasant food and easy to prepare for large numbers...but it will not be cheap for 30, and if you are cooking for class you might not be old enough to buy the wine you need.

what are you cooking with/where?

what is your budget?

do you have any help?

as an aspiring chef one of the first things you need to learn is your limitations and how to deal with them to still come up with a satisfying dish.

meat is tough since I'd probably be doing this the night before the class, in fact it's kind of out of the question. I might just go with the brie on the baguette lol.

Check my link, dick.

lenazi
are you paying for this?

brie and baguette for 30 is still not that cheap:p
