Charlotte and Atlanta

Just wondering if the Atlanta scene is dying or what? No offense to Charlotte or the promoters, but they are getting all the good stuff and we seem to really be slacking. They have Gareth Emery, Markus, Acosta... Unless we are booking them and it just hasn't been announced yet, something is not right. I don't post much anymore, but there is a reason for that. There just isn't much to get excited about right now. I want to get excited about Tiesto, but he just is just more trouble than he's worth. I need something to rekindle my love for trance. I've noticed a decline in my listening.

This is not meant to offend at all, but trance music in general, is and has been, on the decline.

None taken. I guess I was more curious as to why Charlotte's scene seems to be on the rise as ours seems to be declining. We aren't getting a whole lot of anything, especially trance. If Charlotte, a fairly small city, can get Gareth Emery, why can't we book him here? I mean, it is a short trip all things considering. If it's money, I know he'd do well here. I'd even come out of my semi-retirement to see him.

Then why are all the top DJs in the world trance DJs? You mean to say that in the US trance is on the decline.

I think you're overreacting a bit...

We're getting Tiesto, Marco V and Acosta...Charlotte is getting Emery and Schulz...

Depending on your preference, that could be a push. I personally love Schulz and Emery so much more. But Atlanta is still getting names. Just not the names you want per se.

We did just get Cosmic Gate, ATB and Ferry Corsten as well.

We'll get Emery eventually. And I'm sure Schulz will be passing by again soon as well.

Since they're playing on Friday nights though, I'll be going up to Charlotte to see them. No need to wait. $29 for both tickets, combined.

your also talking about DJ's that cost no where near what liquified is spending to bring and are alot harder to come by granted garth is great but thats one name to 10 I would rather see before garth.

Joris,Sebastien,Desyn, > acosta,emery

and anyways acosta is coming back.

We're getting artists you don't like is all.

I mean Zach is right...

We get a lot of DJs...but they aren't big night DJs. But at the same time, we get the same # of big night DJs Charlotte is getting, just different names. So I think he's wrong to say Charlotte is doing better. But at the same time, we should be seeing a few more big night DJs (aka trance).

No, that's not it at all. I don't see much of any artists coming here. I see Sebastien and maybe a couple others. Let me again clarify. When I come on this page, I see a whole lot of Charlotte stuff and very little Atlanta stuff. I mean, we've had some amazing schedules this year, but recently things have seemed to die down a bit. This isn't just about trance artists, although there is a real lack of that.

Zack ummm buddy ATL has gotten a ton of artist this year man. Far from a dead scene. As far as trance artists go...this year you guys have had Markus, Ferry, ATB, Acosta, Paul Van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, Above & Beyond, Rank 1, Armin, and now Marco V and Tiesto are coming. Hmmm i don't think thats any decline in trance. Trance is big room music and is just on a larger crowd, lesser event scale than house and always has been. If your thinking it's fading cause there aren't tons of the trance producers coming through....well in america it's never been like that. Those guys mainly tour Europe and the more known powerhouse trance artists are the ones america clings on to and books. The only real places bringing in a ton of trance and many lesser known producers are NYC, LA, San Fran, and Chicago. Especially San Fran.

And to Enydo...no man trance is not on the decline. Just because you follow the trendy bandwagon and have become a techno snootist doesn't discount trance's popularity. If anything trance has more fans than any other genre and has been since the start of it all. I'm not a trance purist by any means, but the logic that it's "fading out" cause the germans started a techno renaissance 3 or 4 years back is absurd.

To quote you again...there is far from a lack of. And are you serious man ? Atlanta has had so much prime talent come through this year it's insane. I mean just this past month were Sebastian, Joris, Ferry, Desyn, and im sure a few others. And that's just on Liquified's dime. Other promoters around town are bringing lots of talent through atlanta in dubstep, electro, and techno. Hell Skream was just in town down there and i heard the party went real well. All in all, lots of things are going down in atlanta. In charlotte we average something once every few weeks. And thats all promoters included edm-wise. You don't know how good you have it actually.
