Not really comparable to the stuff Rebirth puts out (which releases Kismet tracks), but hardly a weak lineup. |
Ooo sick burn, i'm not even gonna contest that, you win man lol.
I guess i'll sit in the losers corner with a well crafted dunce hat on for good measure. |

| rebirth has had some nice releases this year (Kismet, you are releasing on there :conf: where can I hear your stuff?), but Ostgut has kicked the out of it consistently since it's inception. |

Besides Rebirth, hopefully some other visionary labels i'll be shopping a demo to. Sent something out this week to a German Label, and will be sending to a few others over the next few weeks. I dont send 10-30 labels a mass email, I usually shop to one label at a time, spread a few days apart or weeks apart. Hopefully within the next few weeks/months, i'll have my second EP signed, and some different colors and flavours out. You can check the first EP by going to Rebirth's Beatport, Daze Deten - Deeply Rooted.
Indeed, Rebirth has had some nice releases this year. I realise its pointless to get in a label measuring contest, if you like Ostgut Ton more, for whatever reason that might be, good for you and anyone else that does. Realistically, Rebirth has had a consistently quality 2009 as any label around, and I dont think that will be changing anytime soon. And to preface, I dont have any sort of longterm relationship with them, they have a smart case by case signing philosophy, which is probably why they'll continue to build on what they have. And if I do something with them again, it'll because it fits their ideals. So i'm not trying to hype up my own team here, i'm not binded to anyone longterm at the moment, though in the future it might become a logical step to take.
We should get back to this Delsin release. |

The new Ostgut Murat Tapelli release cant hold up your statement. Since you made a rather bold claim, if you want to, name 5-6 releases on Ostgut Ton and i'll name 5-6 releases on Rebirth, and we'll build some context for value after that.
Its not even close, find a better label to compare with Rebirth's 09. Just because they dont have a flashy myspace and some bs imagery attached to them, pretentious people dont jump on the bandwagon, but they're quietly building a very solid label worth jumping onto. But i'm guessing they'll have to work on their myspace a bit and comb their hair a certain way to attract the pretentious. |
Ben Klock - One
Prosumer & Murat Tepli - The Jam/U & I
Marcel Fengler - Twisted Bleach
Ben Klock - One Remixes EP
Panaroma Bar Sampler Part 1
Panorama Bar Sampler Part 2
Nick Hoppner - Makeover/Foundling
Shed - The Lower Upside Down/Another Wedged Chicken Remixes
I don't like everything that Ostgut put out, in fact I can't stand the Planetary Assault Systems and Deuce releases this year, far too industrial. Let's just say, however, I'll be pleasantly surprised if you can name a similar number of Rebirth releases this year of the same quality.
And maybe stop for a second and think that Ostgut Ton might actually be well recieved because they have a unique, different sound that works, instead of being a trend-label. |
