| this may sound petty but Live's loading screen confuses me... a guitar, grand piano, and violin. Really how many violinists use ableton. I mean is there even a violin instrument in the program? Guitar? It should be like a keyboard, drum machine and bindle of K or something |

| that's hilarious... someone should make that and figure out a way to replace it. |

live users this might be helpful

-StrictDelayCompensation
| quote: | Live has a so called "playthrough optimization" which disables the plugin delay compensation for all tracks that are record-ready or have the "Monitor" switch set to "IN". The reason is that we assume that you want to play a software instrument (or resp. monitor an audio input) with the lowest possible latency. In other words, you will only get the latency of your audio interface + the latency of the actual plugin device instead of the overall latency of the entire project.
We have a hidden option which can be enabled via the so called "Options.txt" file. This option will deactivate the playthrough optimization, so all tracks will be compensated regardless of their monitoring settings. |

| The thing I hate the most about my DAW is that it doesn't make the music for me :( |

This, also that I suck at it. Stupid DAWs, how do they work? |

| back in logic 8, when you have automation data for a plugin, then move the plugin to a different position in the signal chain the automation data doesnt follow it. Instead there's just empty data leftover for slot x or whatever that doesn't do anything. Incredibly stupid and irritating. basically have to redo all automation data every time you want to reorder effects. Anyone know if they fixed this in logic 10? |

| Funny to read this old thread and see my answer from over 4 years ago with my grips about Cubase 5. I'm on Cubase 7.5 now, and thankfully both of those issues are long gone. I still wish Cubase handled automation as easily as Ableton does though. Other than that, I don't have many complaints about it. |

Live's loading times, although im not sure how long projects take to open in other DAWs
i7 haswell, 16gb ram, SSDs......still takes a ing age to open a set
also the shoddy timing with synths, doesnt look like that will ever be fixed either |

How big are your projects evo? I don't think its too bad tbh. Other than synths I just use most of lives plugs apposed to 3rd party ones which may or may not help?
Also since ver9 I don't really suffer from bad timing issues either (just to rub it in :stongue: ) |

Only one thing is pissing me off about any of my DAWs right now, and that's Avid's new subscription model for Pro Tools. They're not very forthcoming with any real information about how it's going to work, exactly what we can expect in terms of upgrades/updates, etc. It's not that I'm all that opposed to the plan, but they're doing a real ty job of informing their existing users so far.
I know there aren't many PT users here, aside from me and Tom (RANN), but does anybody else feel the same way? |
|

| Well I only use PT when I have to for certain projects. I'm still working with PT10 and haven't needed or really wanted to upgrade to 11. Though the subsciption certainly appeals to me and seems the fees will be similar to Cycling's Max or Adobe's cloud subscriptions at $10 a month which is pretty reasonable imo. But it would certainly be nice to know. |
