I've never seen Fringe so I don't know what it's about. As for regular SG... I always thought it appeared cheesy. They were given technology so fast that by the end they had "warp" drive and transporter capabilities. |

you have to remember the main thing about SG is that all the technology is derived from the Ancients and not mankind's own brainpower so they "discover" most of it rather than invent |

And the kicker (best part)...
The Ancients are the first iteration of human life on planet Earth... !!! WHAAAAAAAT!! :D:D:D:D
They were the first intelligent human life that formed on our planet, millions of years ago, before they either all ascended to the higher plane of existence (those that could or would) or were wiped out by that virus that was devastating the universe at the time.
when that was revealed I just about creamed myself! Loved that twist after hearing about this "Ancient" race (on par with or greater than even the Asguard) who invented this Stargate network across the ing universe for gods' sakes!
I also loved that they were pretty much the SUPER ULTIMATE versions of present day humans... what we can become... our potential.
Their intelligence and mental powers were incredible... wasnt it stated that they were using almost 100% of their brain (instead of only the meager portion of it that we do)... they had crazy mental abilities, including healing :D So cool. |

the concept of a race before mankind millions of years before java man has been addressed in many shows before (one being macross/robotech from the early 80s)... |

Yes, but its so awesome in stargate bc of its execution!
It was an amazing surprise when we learn in, like, what? 7th season? that the Acients were really the first humans from earth..!
We already knew about and were intrigued w/ th Ancients on this show... to make them the first gen humans made them even more incredible, bc it was already understood and held "awe" in this universe what these ancients were capable of.
To learn that these such powerful and advanced beings were actually like a first generation of humans million of years ago is what made this notion so cool imo.

| Well... has anyone been checking out this series? I saw episode 4 last night (thanks to torrents) and am still undecided. It's starting to get more interesting. Seems like more of a soap opera and does have a Battlestar Galactica feel to it. |

oh def checking this out. liking it so far and the graphics are a done well. can't wait for next ep to see how they deal with the current problem at hand |

Saw Ep 3 "Darkness" where at the end they pass through the atmosphere of a gas giant.
An episode behind.
It's pretty good, "Dr Rush" is great. |
