Roseland or Hammerstein

| Due to the lack of big clobs (yes Tiesto) in NYC, it seems as though big headliners get booked at one of these two venues. I have never been to Roseland, but have been to Hammerstein for Tiesto and Korn. I was wondering what is the better venue of the 2, and why Made books Roseland over Hammerstein. I really cant see Roseland being better than Hammerstein due to Hammerstein being: a beautiful building, roomy, having many bathrooms, and great aucostics. I guess the question I am also getting at is why does Made not utalize Hammerstein for their big parties over Roseland. They are comperable in size HS 3400 (open floor) Roseland 3500 (open floor). Please feel free to chime in on the questions I asked and any opinions you have of the two venues. Also if there is a better one that is not being discussed, please bring it up! |

Personally i like Roseland. Not sure why Made books there over Hammerstein. Prob a good relationship with the venue or something who knows. Roselands bathrooms are not that great, but i love the venue itself. Maybe because it was my first event i was ever at. Sound is usually done by Integral Sound, and pretty awesome.
*edit*
OK i figured it out...the reason i love Roseland so much is because its right around the corner from Ray's Pizza on 8th Ave. End of Story, well its Genuine Amadeaus Pizza now, but to me, it will always be Rays. |

I've yet to go to go to Roseland. Halloween will be my first time there.
I absolutely love Hammerstein as a venue. Although only when the whole club is open to everyone. I've seen when they block off the upper deck for VIP and imo thats a little lame. Been there for a few raves though, where the entire club is open to everyone, and its like one giant playground so to speak haha. |

After attending Tiesto @ Hammerstein last week since 2007, and comparing it to my visit to Roseland this year I have to say that Roseland is the better venue of the two. Huge Floor, VIP Second Floor, Two Bars and a Bathroom (not the best one in the world) on the the lower level with a Coat Check. Not only that but the setup for trance events in there is sick. Just look at the Tiesto NYE Videos or even the Armin April videos. Not to mention that people that dont usually go to events really think its another club haha. Even the line to get into Roseland for Armin was small if not at all. Seems like the best venue for big trance events in NYC. Roseland has that club feel to it also. Security tho lol.
Hammerstein has better security tho and they seem to be more organized with everything from drinks/to once again security. Yes, it is a nice building and going in there kinda reminds me of Radio City but its not as nice. I cant emphasize how annoying security was on 9.24.2009. But it seems smaller even though it might be a big venue. At Hammerstein though I feel as if Im seeing a performance, like a show at Carnegie, when you walk in you know you are inside a theatre.
Dont forget Webster Hall, thats not a bad place if they have their together (sound system, prices, bouncers etc). What sucks about WH is their prices (drinks, even water) but its not a bad place for a smaller trance events.
I would prefer events at Roseland than Hammerstein anyday. |

| I have been to Hammerstein 4 times(all tiesto) and roseland 4 times as(Armin twice PVD twice) well, i think acoustics wise, space wise, bathrooms wise,Bars wise Hammerstein is deff better, but my nights at roseland have always been legendary, roseland just has 2 bar the back bar and th front bar, huge wait to buy drink, but their smoking section is better compared to Hammerstein. the acoustics in reseland get weired at sots, but Hammerstein sound is just prefect, hammerstein is just one beautiful venue, with all these galleries and stuff, and roseland on other hand is a massive space, anyway my conclusion, Hammerstein > Roseland |

| I was just looking at some pics of Roseland...from what I could tell, it has a similar layout to Roxy, i.e. a wider dance floor. True? |

| I like Roseland better;) , I agree with u Zack , layout reminds me of Roxy a little, maybe its the wood dancefloor and the bench where you can sit on the stage's right side.:tongue2 |

that depends on the acts; at the rock shows i've seen at roseland, the stage setup is on the side, so the layout is wide like the roxy. for tiesto and pvd, that side stage was converted to VIP and the dj booth was at the front, so it was a traditional setup.
the acoustics at the hammerstein are among the best in the city and are superior to roseland. |

Because Hammerstein is a Live Nation venue, and Made would have to partner to do a party at Hammerstein. At Roseland they can do the party direct with the venue without Live Nation taking a cut. Until next year, when Live Nation takes over Roseland.

The only differences to me are:
1. Roseland is longer and Hammerstein is wider.
2. Hammerstein has an additional balconies.
3. Hammerstein VIP sections are closer to the stage.
4. Roseland has larger bars. |

yea...you should have been there new years day
i went in there once and i held my pee in for the rest of the day
i even tryed to use the ladies room, thats how discusting it was
lots of gay rump sex going on lol
i never been to hammerstein, but as for roseland
i like how when you look at it from the back by the bar it is just massive, when the crowd, lights, lasers is just all going off
the sound in there is also always good, i never really have a problem with it
they have like 23737 differnt coat check people so your in and out when checking your coat
and most importantly is that side bar right by the dancefloor, its very convinent to get a drink since its like 10 steps away from the main floor, and there is never really a huge line there since all the people use the bar in the front |
