No, no - don't you understand? It's supposed to be evil! We all know you used your jedi mind tricks on your husband, he had no say! We should therefore ban marriage so women are powerless again: the sole existence of marriage threatens the well-being of all mankind! |

Um, that was supposed to be a secret. Btw, the porn star head dies at the wedding. We have to trick guys somehow. |

I told my girlfriend that I don't believe in valentine's day, that she's not getting all and that if she doesn't like it she can break up with me. I buy her flowers and take her out to dinner regularly throughout the year, why should I be forced to do it on an overpriced day when some jerk-off on television says I should?
In contrast, all my friends cower at the demands of their women on valentine's day because they're afraid of being in the bad books. Rejecting like this has nothing to do with a 'power struggle' or 'laying down the law', it's just about clearing out the guilt-tripping bull and blackmailing in a relationship. |
I agree with you... haha. Biggest manufactured "holiday" ever. Me and a couple of my friends boycott that , and we don't get any for doing so for the same reason you said- we routinely take them to dinner and buy them stuff anyway. I HATE trying to go near a restaurant on Valentines Day.

This is one of the most stupid things I have ever seen. There are plenty of people who make the decision to marry. My husband is pretty mature and secure, if he didn't want to be married, he wouldn't have asked me. I didn't corner him or force it on him, I was content with being a couple without the ring. If you find the right person to be with and you are happy, there is nothing wrong with being married.
Your post sounds like an excuse for a sausage fest. |
For the record I agree with you- I'm married too and perfectly happy. |

| i have no problem with a ceremony, but the idea of marriage as a legal binding contract and a big goal of life is just rediiculase, imo. |

It isn't for everyone but it is good for us. He was the one who wanted to be married. It isn't all s and giggles, it is a lot of work sometimes. |

Yesterday I had a class on feminism where the male tutor tried to tell us how outrageous it is that stay at home mothers don't get paid for their housework and child-rearing.
I openly laughed at him in front of the class and said: 'would you be prepared to pay your wife for casual housework?' The conversation ended pretty quickly after that. |
