I had more than a blast on Sunday. This party topped any party I've been to zone this year musically. I told everyone I'd call it quits for a long period of time after my last visit in September, but my gut feeling told me it wasn't a party to be missed; friends have always exclaimed about the insanity of CZ on Halloween. Stories about the characters that roam about had intrigued me.. and it certainly lived up to the hype. Those top levels of sketchy behaviour were tolerable for me, because it was Halloween. Don't think anything really creeped me out or made me cringe that I hadn't seen before.. it was more hilarious and entertaining!

I took a nap after Footwork and got there shortly after 9, with no lineup, and barely penetrated through the heat wave. I wasn't prepared to be swimming this early . It was a sauna in there, for most of the day, and sometimes packed to the . Don't think I've been there when it's been that consistently full from the morning leading into the evening. The vibe in there was incredible. How I managed to keep my costume on for that long, I'll never know.. I took off my hat/hair come noon, and couldn't deal anymore shortly after, and so I literally yelled like Hogan and ripped off my sleeves and rope suspenders. What a relief!! It was fun to dance with Wrecks on my arm.. but he also had to peace out before Paco came on.. I was starting to believe he was actually my real limb :nervous:. Funniest moment for me was having to ask the coat check lady if she could add my dinosaur to my coat. She looked at me like I was a mental patient... and when I actually showed her Wrecks.. she didn't know what to say. LOL.

The tunes were stellar!! Deko-ze had his moments, but I've seen better Sunday Mass performances by him. Mark Oliver really surprised me that day, with another versatile set by him. I always complain that he's never consistent with his sound, but he catered to the crowd zone nicely, with a mostly tech tribal sound. Some pretty good bangers had us bounce to the ceiling... Wasn't completely feeling the Junkies, but that enabled us to take a few breathers upstairs. Paco Osuna turned the zoo into some sort of animal experiment facility on another planet! Some of the sound effects I heard confused me; couldn't tell whether there were actually elephants jamming with us or not; pigs, monkeys, pretty much everything. He played this one tech house track with lots of animal sounds too... couldn't have been played at a better time! He slaughtered our feeble body parts, blended them, and threw the remains at us... and we still kept dancing! There was an abundance of technical problems with his set, and at first it was hard to ignore.. but his programming was awesome as well as the vibe from the crowd that it made me brush it off. By 6 pm my feet were jelly. One hell of a workout!!

Tune of the day for me, which was played twice:

Oxia - Whole Life

:)

I'm never missing out on Halloween CZ ever again. Good friends and dino jam partners helped to make it a great day, even though so many were missing.

Hahaha amazing. *Look of disbelief* "What planet are we on??"...."Are there elephants in zone today or something?"
Jamie you would have appreciated this other planetary experience! ;)

Oh Cz …

So After some random adventures gallivanting all over Toronto collecting people… we finally made it. And Deko-Ze was on --- I don’t know what else to say, but as much as others love him … not my thing. However I was also being careful to reserve energy for Paco. That being said I spent a lot of time upstairs just relaxing and listening to tunes. Mark Oliver seemed pretty decent. However the Junkies I must agree did not live up to there usual standard, which is unfortunate as their latest pod cast is lots of fun. As for Paco, the first hour kept throwing me for a loop… it got a bit better as time went on till he really had that crowd going. But in all honesty I had very higher expectations so… Personally I think I may have built CZ Halloween to be a much different creepy thing in my head, and then it really was. Oh well…. Nevertheless it was a good time, always-fun times at cz with good friends, so no regrets there. PLUS how could I miss Gimli’s First Time at ZONE …. NEVER …. It puts a big smile on my face to see how much fun she had … and to know there will be many more to come.

I find it difficult to put into words my feelings about this day...but here goes

I came straight from Guv at 5am, although there was no line it was RAMMED to the in there, easily the busiest ive ever seen it. (ive only been going for a year ish and missed last halloween and new years). Props to the awesome cz staff for decorating the place so well! (By late afternoon the decorations were of course turned into balls of junk on the floor). Everyone was in such good spirits, so happy and sketch level was little to non existant. Id say about 70% of people were in costumes which was great :) I wasnt in it but apparently around 6am there was a lineup down past the Waverly to get in!

After about 20 minutes of being inside and saying hi to everyone I made my way to the dancefloor, which was BANANAS. Like plural, not just one, MANY bananas. Joee played from 5 to 7 - and HOLY fishsticks batman, did he ever PLAY! I was in awe at how much fun not only the crowd was having, but also him! There wasnt one person standing in the place, it felt so old school ish and REAL. Like everyone was actually there for the music and not whatever else. Like WOWWWWWWW :D :D

Set of the day undoubtedly goes to Joee Cons, hands ing down! YES BRO! :wtf: :D :gsmile: :tongue2

I left about 11am to change out of costume, shower etc and came back about 330...and Paco was playing extremely well. I hate to be critical but, although I totally enjoyed Paco's set, he was not nearly as good as last time I saw him. Regardless he seemed to be having fun and got a large applause following his last track (which BTW was an edit of New Order - Blue Monday! woww :) )

The vibe was great in there from start to finish, but for me some stuck out more than others - Greg Gow played a good mixture of vocals and bangers, kind of what i needed after the paco madness..
jon jon played some good happy uplifting stuff that was perfect for near closing (touch me in the mornin FTW!)
oh how I love sing-alongs with a magic fairy wand hehe!...left everyone smiling :gsmile:

Somewhere in the afternoon I had a poutine, obviously, along with chicken quesadillas. I loooove the food in silver dollar! Then I left when the lights came on at 4 am. In one word, EPIC

I <3 CZ

The End.

edit: and nice to meet you Intangible!
PS - bombaman made me wanna slice off my ears and feed them to baboons. i dont know what that was, but it wasnt music.
