You make some very good points.
I don't like the term pop trance. To me, this is what that should describe:
Yet that's not what people are describing. They often mean Dash Berlin, whose stuff is a lot less radio-friendly, IMO. I like these two songs, by the way, although I consider "Heaven" very cheesy.
Perspectives vary. Some people feel that because trance has slowed, it became house. I don't agree with that, either. Any attempt to delineate the difference between genres -- an inherently fluid concept -- will be oversimplification, but to separate trance from house merely on tempo is overdoing it. And trance is still generally faster than house.
Much of today's house music is vastly different from 1980s house. A lot of what passes for jazz today sounds very little like the "St. Louis Blues."
Parents and grandparents will often tell you about the "real" music of their time and how yours is the less authentic version. I often feel like the same thing happens with trance.
You don't have to agree but that's it's an actual fact. The Post-popular era.It is not called progressive house and trance and progressive house for no reason. They melt both elements found in each other genre.
Some dj's when they hit the mainstream wave they burn, and slowly decapitate so they find way to incorporate new elements to survive.Trance isn't that mainstream and never had great chance to be even in 2004/06 [far from any other genre success] where was at it's peak, but still some dj's in trance genre have shown "those signs" ,to move into another mainstream genre to capture new fans, that's where you get the clash of fans.
