Wow - it was. System Soundbar Lawler lastnight.... incredible. Mainly tribal, with chuggy house and a flow that had no ups or downs. I think he should thank Jimmy Hill for setting the tone. Deep, groovy set that was tame, but ing fresh and sleazy.

Great night - but the crowd was almost too much at 1:30, that we actually went to coatcheck but decided against an early departure.

The proof is in the pudding... I can not enjoy a party until I have found my spot.

Arrived at 10:20 and there was already a decent line. But the staff was great at moving things quickly. Walking in a was impressed with the decor, I havent been since May 2008 and forgot how truly beautiful the venue is. Mazone and Strong played a nice sexy opening. Enough to make the body want to move a bit and creating a nice tone for Hill. By the time Hill came on the place was PACKED. The crowd was way too much for me. Although Hill's set was deliciously groovy and a brilliant transition to Lawler I could not get into it. After having to avoid multiple douchebags and being kicked in the shoulder by a platform dancing hoebag I had had enough. I decided to go get some air and figure a way to tell my friends I was done for the night.

The patio was another whole story and proof on how disgusting these guys really are. Jill and I were entertained telling these dudes off amused by their low IQ and lack of class.

As I stood outside debating if I should go home or not lawler took the booth and THE DRUMS CAME ON. My decision was made... BRING ON THE MOTHER ING DRUMS!

I found an amazing spot upstairs, great view of the crowd, decentish sound, a nice fan, and a good crowd and DANCED. And that was it my night went to zero to OMGWTF! Lawler released the animal in all of us. Drums Drums Drums a bit of chugginess. Each track was greater than the next. Amazing energy throughout the set and amazing vibe (amongst my lovely crew <3) We loved having the space to dance and all lost control. I think we all had a track, or two, or three that made our night complete. Oh and for me to hear a bit of brass... heheh made me go crraazzzyyyyyy

My friend got some good video (i think) if she posts them I will make sure to share.

I did have a ty ending... the coatcheck girl never gave me my ticket so I wasnt able to get my jacket. Had to wait until close and I got super tired around 3:45 am. I had to stay until the very end... which ended up being a HUGE treat. His encore was perfect (would love an ID). One of those tracks that made me burst into a huge smile.

A few side notes:
- We brought a Lawler virgin... she loved it :) That was a treat to see :)
- The lighting in TIL is lovely and sexy
- The DJ booth is so annoying and cold. I dont understand why its separated by stairs and why the bouncers have to be such mean, unfriendly, asses. Ruins any chance of intimacy.
- I am glad I didnt let the people at the party ruin what turned out to be an epicly amazing party. I will return to TIL, but I will go early claim my spot and not move.
- A came home with a really nice souvenir. I got my very first party flyer signed (Canada Day 2007). Time to get that framed

Lawler was a god for me, then I lost a bit of love... but after this LAWLER IS GOD <3 So in love again :) :clown:

Steve Lawler, for most of my partying career, has actually been one of my favorite DJs. His tribal style at the start of the decade captured me with infectious drums and pulsating rhythms.

He lost me for a bit there, but I'm happy to say he is back. What an amazing night! Button thinks the same way I do, that Lawler was dropping some really sexy and sleazy house. It was definately one of Lawler's best performances in Toronto in a while.

Most DJs coming from playing Montreal the night before usually arrive in Toronto in rough shape, and that has happened to Lawler a few times in the past, but he seemed good to go, and man did he deliver.

He also dropped a track at exactly 4am that had the whole place going off. Very filtered vocal, something saying "Music" in a very faint way. Place went nuts.

What a night!

Wish you could have been there my fellow lawler lover <3

An additional note... I let dekoze scare me away from anything labelled tribal... But after this night has my curiosity peaked. My inner tiger wants more.

lawler was ing incredible last night. jimmy hill did a fantastic job with his opening set. joe and fab did good warming up the room too.

the lineup got big really quick. there was already a line at 10pm. now you guys know why i said to arrive early. :)

i am happy that lawler went later than originally planned. i havent seen TIL so rammed at 4am in a very long time. this was one of the best nights for me at TIL this year.
