From the NY TIMES:
The peak times in which women report sexual harassment or assaults on the subways are the late morning rush, roughly 8 to 10 a.m., followed by the early afternoon rush, 4 to 6 p.m.
One stretch of the subways — the crowded Nos. 4, 5 and 6 lines between Grand Central Terminal and Union Square — is a particular source of complaints.
And the average age of the men arrested this year for sexual offenses on the subways is 39

that is sick.
It doesn't really happen on the trains I ride on (thank GOD!) but I get cat called so much on the street that it actually makes me wanna punch them in the face.
Honestly.. I could be sick as fuk... red nose.. sniffles coughing and that's like the day I get hit on the most.
Old men in NY are creepy and terrible. Where I work I could get hit on 3-4 times just from the train to my job. Fuking HATE IT! |

| i agree with most of you BUT, as a man i gotta say that when a girl steps into a subway car wearing a mini skirt (during summertime, for obvious reasons) and she looks sexy as hell. I AM GOING TO STARE AT HER. if she doesn't like it then go back home and change. |

exactly, if a girl is dressed like that then she needs to own up to it she's asking for the attention, if thats not the case though you just have to be careful |

There is
1. Doing it but not intentionally
2. Doing it intentionally
This can happen in the subway or out of the subway.
When it gets packed I always put both hands in the air(one holding the grab bars and one at chest height blocking me like I would playing defense in basketball) so I don't touch something illegal down there and get a couple of important inches infront of me:) The A,1,2,3,6 are the worst. I try to always avoid the rushhour so I don't have to deal with pushing and shoving. When you wait one more train I would say 50-70% of the time the train has less people(not 50%-70% less people :whip:
I do see the ocassional nice dress woman but I am sure they look at nice dressed guys also. |

attention yes but not to be stared down. there is a difference between noticing someone and appreciating they look good and noticing someone and being sketchy about it. staring at people is rude and makes them uncomfortable. also some things i worn out of comfort, some exercise clothes could be seen as attention seeking but you can't expect people to cover up all the time. |
