..so im playing a nice little trance set today at this block party for the 4th of july and this rat basard comes up to me in the middle of Art of trance-Madagascar(domi nation mix)
and wants to know "can you play some 311 or somthing". "No I cant, you uncultured swine". Can you believe someone would ask me that in the middle of that classic mix of one of the greatest songs made! Whats the deal with people not getting so lost in trance and in the mix that for ounce they could just let go, turn to thier best friend and tell em how much they mean to them and how you would do anything for em. out of about 100 peaple out there today, 1 person had a true appeciation for the music i play and the way i mix em and that of course was my dear friend jeremy. and long as i can look in to the crowd and see that dude dancing his ass of with a smile on his face i'll continue to play at these ty little events where people think that Digweed is what you put in bong. thank you for reading this and being one of those people that are keeping trance alive

LoL..."If it doesn't have lyrics, the Americans won't like it" that's what I've discovered. 311- Amber isn't too bad of a song though...might actually fit nice into a trace set.

heh thats so in true...once at a gym i met this chic, just made her listen to pvd-for an angel and for the first few seconds she had a pretty confused look on her face, until i said, "oh it doesn't have any words in it" and she was all relieved lol...she told me she was wondering how a song can go on for so long without lyrics lol

1- I would've killed this guy, cut his head with one broken record or something... hehehe :)

2- Lyrics tell people where's the song at, beginning, middle, end... they don't get lost... (i.e. idiots). That's what I learned in school anyways hehehehe.

Majority of people in north america have been treated like kids all their lives (dumbed down) thus can't apreciate electronic music... its sad :(

lol lighten up man, believe it or not there ARE other types of music out there that people might just enjoy. Perhaps if only 1 person was enjoying it then maybe you should have been playing at another party? Or playing other music.

I dont think you guys are being fair saying that Americans are dumbed down and cant appreciate music w/o words. It may be true a lot of the time but not always. And i dont think its because we(they) are dumbed down, its because we get force fed nu metal and boy band . As far as him asking you to play 311. Theyre a good band, and if the people dont like what your playing it doensnt matter how good you think it is, there still going to be unhappy. By the way calling someone uncultured for asking you to play something is just stupid :(

I didn't say every single american/canadian is dumbed down... the masses are (radio, tv,...). And if the guy was playing only techno or Trance (for the connaisseur) its pretty stupid to ask to change for something completly different.

Its like going to a club playing rap and you go asking for some trance!?!?

Anyways, the ones deciding to put a trance dj at a popular party are to blame, not the dj doing his job...

is digweed that thing u smoke in a bong ? :stongue:
Blue.
That's like asking Tiesto to put on Rappers Delight or something :p . It's kinda stupid to ask but I like 1 or 2 311 tunez, wouldn't spin em' on my TT's though.

I like 311 as well, but that's just ignorant.

Did ya drop in some Mozart?

Followed by a smooth transition into some N'Sync?

Granted, at a party like that, there's gonna be a varied crowd, but a request like that... just stupid.
