NOBODY IN AUSTRALIA DRINKS FOSTERS. IN FACT, YOU'D HAVE TROUBLE FINDING IT. |
already quoted a number of times, but so true. i don't think i've ever seen it except in other countries :haha:
the sad thing is aus makes some awesome beers, yet fosters is how our country is represented... :(
shameful.
edit: just watched the ad. the dude doesn't even sound australian, just sounds like a retarded new zealander if anything... |

| Not gonna lie, there's a bar I frequent that has oil cans of Fosters for $3. When it's 28 oz. of Fosters vs. 11.2 oz. of Miller Lite for the same price, I'll go Fosters every time. :) |

The most popular beers? Or the best beers?
Carlton, Tooheys and VB would probably be the most popular brands across Oz, with XXXX (four ex) being very popular in Queensland (and most likely only QLD).
Our best (large scale produced) beers would be Coopers (and there are multiple offerings from them), Cascade, and Boags. Both Cascade and Boags remind me a little bit of the taste of Stella Artois (but still different - Better, IMO).
From the small breweries, I've heard good things about 'Little Creatures' and there seem to be a number of the micro breweries appearing on the shelves these days (about time!). |

Never tried Miller Lite, only MGD. Similar? I'd drink MGD over Fosters any day :p |

Similar - it's basically just the low calorie version. That said, it takes a lot to get me drunk, so volume for the price is the predominant consideration many nights. :o |

Each region has its own popular beer.
Not all of them are good.
gehzumteufel will probably tell you Coopers ales ;) (mainly in South Aus, but you'd likely be able to find it elsewhere).
James Squires are well worth drinking, probably easier to find on the east coast (where you'll be).
Two Tasmanian beers, Boags and Cascade, are also easy to find all over and are very good indeed.
Stay away from:
XXXX
VB
West End
Tooheys
Carlton
Hahn

Pretty much any Lite/Light American beer is miles better than the normal versions. |
