a WIP that i'm stalled on - a good 10bpm slower than the norm for me!

It's a remix of 'The Longest Road' ft Morgan Page
I was trying to keep things clean and uncluttered using the new powercore plugs and was paying special attention to getting a really nice snare sound.
There's absolutely no intro yet and also nothing but boom-tish in the verses but i'm kind of pleased with the way the choruses are shaping up. I've sat in front of this for two nights no and absolutely nothing has come to me for the verses so i'm just going to post this 50% 'written' version.
I've approached somebody I know to do some guitar parts for it too, kind of like a cowboy twang thang
It's also not gone through my 'mastering' flavours yet so it's a bit quiet for us tarnce heads

The first 40 seconds feel a little empty to me, but I must say that you've got a clean sound! Maybe it's just me, but the snare sounds a little bottom heavy?
I found this to be pretty chilling, even though it's not my style! Good job. |

Thanks
The beginning and verses are empty because I've done nothing with them yet. I have tried a couple of things but ended up binning it all so far!
The snare may well be a bit bottom heavy as it sits with the kick at the moment. I'll revisit that on a mixdown on the monitors.
Thanks for the comments :) |

| sounds good the only thing i can see it may need a bit of is some swing it sounded a bit strait in places but nice and clean thoe |

| The percs def make this really empty. Put in some loops but not too many, tweak them a bit also in a slicer. The snare my most hated type of snare(just my opinion!) its so boring and bland. Try a clapish snare, I know of some good ones in the minimal vengeance pack, has some really good ones. Overall the track needs way more elements. |

There are definately a massive amount of elements to add. In the OP I stated that I was stalled on the mix as I was starting at empty intros and versus and the reason I was posting it here was for some feedback that would genrate a few ideas! ;)
Which I've got now!
I was talking to a pal of mine last night and we've got some ideas brewing for a load of guitar parts for the track so I think that's the road it'll go (no pun)down next week.
The snare is staying. I love it :D I'll probably use a clap in everywhere else but the chorus though. |

It is a really clean track, well constructed and beautifully blended together – grate work man.
If any suggestion from me would be to work on your drums pattern (particularly crash, very it a bit) and try to bring your pad and synt forward a little more (expose it ) because it will dramatically increase tension in this song and let people melodically connect with your song – if this make any sense to you.
This apr at 2:40 should definitely be louder – because become a prime sound in this part of your song after this lovely vocal.
I know that this is only a beginning and those are only my suggestions, so don’t worry you know better what will work for your.
Damn man this is another good production with a lot of potential from you. Stay cool man. |

I always appreciate your feedback, and that's not just because you usually like my stuff ;)
I'm definately going to take my time finishing this one and do it justice!

No problem man, I will help if people need a help and can give a suggestion if someone needs one, but some people don't need any because they are really good in what they are doing already (this includes you).
What we should do (all TA members), is to coop together and release CD with ours best tracks - that would be a fun!
Cheers from Seattle man. |
