Old news. Me and my co-editor did a news article about this back in May. Yea... we went there lol :clown:
HAWTIN WANTS US TO DRESS RICHLY
Article: News (2009-05-21)
(Berlin, DE) - In 2008, German DJ/Producer and M_nus label owner Richie Hawtin met up with Isolde Richly while traveling in Tokyo. The two decided to collaborate on a business venture and this is when the Richly.Hawtin Fashion label was established. The result: overpriced quasi-futuristic threads that is marketed in the same pretentious way as Hawtin's lame Cube thingy.
The press release hilariously states the following: "Perhaps now more than ever as music sheds its skin and evaporates into the digital ether, it needs something tangible, something physical to keep hold of". Yeah. Whatever... what a crock of sh*t. We've had a peek at the threads and, well, it doesn't differ much from the casual stuff you can get at your local boutique (except for the retail price of course). The one and only Richly trench-coat is rumoured to cost ya EUR 1700 (!!!) Hm, deja-vu here... oh right, Richie used to sell his own M-nus earrings ("2008 edition", mind you!) for EUR 40 (and as well all know, the M-nus logo is nothing but a bar which you can get for a nickel at your local DIY store and makes you look like a construction worker on crack). Sadly, Mr. Plastikman has engaged in more ridiculous ideas as of late. Apart from that utterly pointless Cube device, Richie has implemented the equally pointless Twitter into his live sets so you can keep track of his thoughts and tracks during his performance. Like we care.
The official release party will be held in Apartment Store in Berlin's Mitte District next week. The first attire up for viewing will be a limited run of 100 T-Shirts with previews of future designs that will be unveiled at the launch. Please Richie, quit fooling around and get yo ass back in the studio! |

Lol :stongue: . You're right that the cube thing was a total BS gimmick. Sometimes I wish they'd stop decorating totally plain, or even slightly below average ideas with colorful language to make it sound like it's something spectacular.
As for the clothes though, they're really no more pretentious or creative than than any of the other stuff by european designers. Maybe even a little less creative / more conservative than some of the stuff out there *shrugs*
