i'm the same way- my dad feels the need to bog his computer down with so much anti-spyware antivirus blah blah blah and his pc runs like dog
i have no virus protection, no firewall, no windows security center . i do have anti-spyware apps just in case i sense a problem with my pc but it hasn't happened yet (and therefore i haven't had to use it yet)
pretty much, if you don't browse porn sites and click on popup ads, you won't have a problem. it's what i tell everyone who has spyware/virus problems.
