Playing at an event near where I live.

Now I've got the feeling hes nothing like what he used to be, but is he still worth going to see? What does he even play now?

Nowdays hes very similar to Tiesto and PvD...

Basically pop EDM that kinda fails if you ask me.

Yeah, shame, I sort of figured that may be the case. Its not an open air event or festival or anything like that. Its a club environment, so I was thinking he may play more of a clubbers set rather than a commercial one, being supported by JFK and Nat Monday which also gives me a bit more hope..

Guess it is hoping though! Ha..

check out his podcast (free in itunes) as well as the tracklisting section of TA for some current tracklists and you'll be able to hear/read for yourself. but i wouldn't expect anything from oakenfold of years past.

Thanks, yeah I was going to try his podcast, but I sometimes don't think this reflects what a dj may play out in a club. Ie, the lack of quality on a 2 hour podcast as opposed to tracks he may be more suitable in a club mixed with some classics etc creating a good vibe.

May try getting one of his recent live mixes.

Ta for the replies.

I tried his podcast a few months ago. Basically like I said, he was playing alot of pop EDM, very uplifting sounding progressive poppy stuff is how I would describe it. Extremely mainstream.

Fixed.

I love Paul Oakenfold. :o

Has he learned to mix yet?

Oakenfold is inconsistent. I've heard him play some of the worst sets full of obvious old hits, but I've also heard him play some slamming trance. Unpredictable. I'd check out recent sets online and see what's he's currently playing before investing my time or money in him.
