Electronic songs for nOObs (pg. 3)

Greg Wilson's Credit To The Edit volumes 1 & 2 should do nicely.
Ewan Pearson - Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi and/or his Fabric mix.
Rub N' Tug's Fabric mix
Metro Area's Fabric mix
Greg Wilson and/or Jamie Jones' essential mix.

If those don't work, then there's really no hope.

edit // Oh and Groove Armada...duh.

I posted a thread like this a few years ago, but I can't find it, and I need an updated version.

I'm trying to show a friend the music I'm into. I made him a Ricardo Tobar & Digweed set. He says he liked it, but some of it was too "repetitive". It's such a pet peeve when nOObs say that. I'm also pretty sure he skimmed through the sets, because nOObs aren't used to listening to an hour long non-stop set.

So I was thinking about songs that I used to like, that aren't too repetitive, maybe even some vocals (but not necessary). I can't remember a lot of song names, but these came to mind:

Robbie Rivera - Float Away
Gabriel & Dresden - As the Rush Comes
Criss Source - Hugs and Kisses

I don't want to get any more trancey than the songs I mentioned above. In fact, I want to show him some dark dirty tech house, but I need it to be nOOb proof. Maybe like Dubfire style music (where it's pretty decent and still on the "commercial" side)?

Any other suggestions? :)

I would go with Alex Kenji. His tracks are the creamy white gooey stuff. So good.

I'm worried if I give him Tiesto or PVD, he'll start liking trance... and that's a big no-no!

What's wrong with people liking trance?

I strongly doubt he will like straight up trance anyway. It's just not his style.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions :)

Nothing wrong with trance, most people started out with trance and grow out of it.

I converted my friend into electronica music with Gui Boratto - Mr. Decay.

Golden Boy vs. Miss Kittin - Rippin Kittin (Ellen Alien Mix)

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Do Not Break

Paolo Mojo & Jim Rivers - Ron Hardy Said (Eric Prydz Mix)

Maybe show him this Booka Shade video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG8B5aMnXH4

The noobs always love Claude Vonstroke - Who's Afraid Of Detroit

+1. There are different styles of trance anyways. You can put on some Aly & Fila which is 140 bpm fast uplifting stuff and then some Andy Duguid stuff which can go all the way down to 126 bpm with some very nice smooth beats but still be considered trance.

I started listening to trance about 7 years ago and although I know have started to get in to more progressive house and a bit of grungy electro I still love trance.

Trance does not ==== Cheese!

I would suggest making a CD and just loading it up with as many genres of EDM that you can and let the fella decide for himself like other people were saying.
