Using Abelton for megamixes (pg. 2)

Personally i found Ableton sorta hard to learn at first as far as mixing goes. But once you have it down its so easy. its great...and the possibilities are endless. On the fly mashups and stuff like that.

Sometimes if im playing more proggy stuff and im using ableton i can have 3 or 4 tracks going at once mashing up, its nuts!

Its up to you i guess...personal preference. I personally prefer CDJs more, because it feels more "live" you know

This guy needs to chill.

Ableton vs. CDJs vs. TT's are like "what's your favorite color?" "oh yeah, well mine's better".

Shove off you prick.

I agree to an extent, but given the amount of established names using ableton to play live that point is negligible.

I say this also as a person who dislikes ableton immensely in relationship to its use in Djing. It is still the best sequencer on the market imo.

while ableton is good for sampling and live prefor performances
for sequencing and piano roll FL wins hands down

For me it's the end product that counts. Whatever sounds best is what I want to hear.

If it's an actual megamix and you have plenty of time, why would you not use Ableton or a similar program? You can do far more with it than you ever could with turntables.

If you're playing live, well then it's entirely up you. I like DJs that play good music and in the proper order, can read the crowd, take the energy up and down etc. Whether you're using, vinyl, CDs, mp3s, Ableton, a bucket and spoon or anything else makes no difference to me.

It's the end product that counts. If there's one thing I can't stand it's the elitism towards digital DJing, and mostly because the CDJ fanboys are huge hypocrites because they've forgotten how they were treated by the vinyl purists.

Well said!!!

You know its like...a true artist really accepts everything and doesn't limit himself. Personally i prefer using both CDJs and Ableton, but i love vinyl as well. Like you never see Armin say..."yeah vinyl sucks now...CDJs and Software have taken over."
Schadenfreude
that is because Armin is not allowed to say that anything sucks.
