Using Abelton for megamixes

Considering a purchase purely for the purpose of megamixes.
Was wondering how those of you that already use the software feel about using it for this purpose and then going back on the decks afterwards.
Does it not feel boring in doing so?
I'm thinking that after creating a 1hr masterpiece of edits and samples, decks may seem lame in comparison going by the end result.
I could of course be wrong.
Just looking for some advice folks.

You could always find new ways to incorporate what you've tried out into your deck sets.
Any non-linear editor is a good way to get an idea how a set is arranged visually. |

Doesn't feel boring, they each have their pros and cons. Ableton is ideal for megamixes actually. Very simple and easy to use...straight forward sequencing with lots of features.
CDJs/Vinyl are always fun even if you completely move over to Ableton. |

Id say its a worthy purchase.
Def check out using it for more than just megamixes.
I still prefer playing on CDJs but every now and then i use Ableton. Mainly for more minimal and prog. |

| Ableton is great for doing absolutely anything with samples. It really lets you warp and edit samples in any way you can imagine. |

| Ableton would be perfect for megamixes but I'd prefer to see a DJ use turntables and a mixer... I'd also rather listen to a promo mix done on turntables and a mixer |

I agree to an extent, but given the amount of established names using ableton to play live that point is negligible.
I say this also as a person who dislikes ableton immensely in relationship to its use in Djing. It is still the best sequencer on the market imo. |

Ableton ing sucks so hard to DJ with.
I'm sure it'd be great though if you actually wanted to pursue making a MEGAMIXXX . |

Personally these days I think it comes down to what the person is producing rather than what they are mixing.
Mixing (again IMO) has become more of a given and the track selection is now (and in reality as pretty much always been) the ever more important part of a mix/set.
Produce good songs you get noticed. Which in turn gets you some gigs and hence people hear your 'sound'.
I don't thnk people care as much which medium your sound is played through these days. Again this is all just my opinion. :)
