A mixer?
Which soundcard? Audio8/4/2?

vestax pcv 75 mixer, cdj200s, traktor, and no soundcard which is probably the missing piece.

Yep the soundcard is where you're stumped at the moment.

If you wanted to just record your cdj's you could hook the output of your mixer up to the line in of your computer and use something like audacity to record.

But if you're looking to use your cdj's with Traktor you'll need a copy of Traktor Scratch Pro and a certified soundcard (i think, not sure if you can just use any soundcard)..

Anyway, fact is to record in traktor you have to have a soundcard.

A late christmas present perhaps.

I discovered what was wrong. Nothing to do with filters and effects, I "just" bought the wrong cables. Already ordered the right ones.

lol the wrong cables? i dont believe it, please post what u had and what u now think is the correct one?

I can't see how wrong cables would have such an effect on the sound either. Sounds a bit weird to me. I still think the problem is elsewhere.

To connect the soundcard to the mixer, I have been using the following cables: http://www.kopfhoerer.ch/oxid.php/s...6e5297.77212906. Problem is that this cable has only one plug for the soundcard, while I need two for every channel. So the cables that I need are these one: http://www.kopfhoerer.ch/oxid.php/s...6e5297.77212906. What probably happened by using the wrong cables is that I was only conducting the left or right side sound of one channel to the mixer, however since the cable is still stereo the mono sound was still reproduced as stereo or something like that and thus I didn't paid too much attention about the fact that the sound was not great. Also because of this my channel meters leds of my Xone92 were not working, now that I tried to use the right cable the leds are working totally fine.

Funny you say that... I haven't listened to the clip, but I was just getting ready to say that it seems to me like you got a mono recording.

There is nothing wrong with the recording process and everything works flawless, however I am not really that satisfied of the audio quality. Even the wav files do not sound as good as they should for no apparent reason and this obviously translates to poor mp3 files.
Here are two recordings converted in mp3 that I made, I am wrong to not be satisfied?

1) mp3 256kbps
2) mp3 320kbps

Thanks for the help.

The problem is one of your channels is out of phase. When this occurs it will cancel certain frequencies within the track. I guess I am so much into sound, I noticed the cancelation instantly upon playing the track. :D

I will post a video of what is happening shortly.

Watch this video to see what is the problem.

It is an easy fix. All you need to do is invert one channel. Your choice, left or right.

Cheers!

Thanks very much for the effort, but I do not understand how I would do that practically (I am a noob, sorry)? No phase invert button in Traktor Pro.
Have you seen my last post in this thread: you don't think that I have been using the wrong cables to connect my soundcard to the mixer?

I think it’s time to learn.

Download this program: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It is an audio editing program, that will enable you fix the problem. What you’ll need to do is invert the left or right channel.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/onl...menu_effect.htm

On your Moto 828, are ¼” inputs stereo or are they mono? In other words, is channel one’s input stereo or do you need to insert channel 1 (left) & 2 (right) to get a stereo input?

There is a chance you were using the wrong cable if channel one is a mono input. The cable you posted is nothing more but this, http://www.coolgear.com/images/SS-6FT-1F2RCA.jpg with a ¼” plug. If the ¼” inputs are indeed mono, you would need plugs like this http://www.speakerrepair.com/ebaypics/va-500.jpg

Cheers!
