Recording quality under traktor pro

I have just started recently to record my mixes with traktor pro. I am using an external xone 92 mixer hooked up to a motu 828mk22 soundcard. There is nothing wrong with the recording process and everything works flawless, however I am not really that satisfied of the audio quality. Even the wav files do not sound as good as they should for no apparent reason and this obviously translates to poor mp3 files.
Here are two recordings converted in mp3 that I made, I am wrong to not be satisfied?

1) mp3 256kbps
2) mp3 320kbps

Thanks for the help.

That does indeed sound rather weird. Like all the music is coming from in front of you when listening to this with headphones. Dunno how the original tune sounds though, so it's kinda hard to compare. Maybe you should post a clip of that too, so it'd be easier to distinguish what's happening. But yeah, definitely sounds weird. Waveform looks normal though.

Hei Skip, here is the original track file, I will remove it after a couple of days -> http://www.sendspace.com/file/g19k5o

When I listen to the recording files from my audio system (without going through the mixer) it seems like the sound is just flat and like it's coming from far away, while the original file has a much warmer and richer sounds. I will check now how does it sound when I listen to it through traktor and the mixer. Maybe some of the cables are inverted or something, I doubt I have setup traktor wrongly, otherwise I wouldn't even be able to record.

Hmm. Noticed one thing. The sample rate of the recording you've made is 48 KHz for some reason instead of 44,1 KHz like the original file. That could have ed the sound up. Better check your sound card and Traktor recording preferences and set them to 44,1 KHz 16 bit. I'm pretty sure that might fix it.
Trancefxs
No, that shouldn't be the problem, because I had them as well when I recorded and converted with 44.1khz, so I made some tests with higher frequencies to check whether the quality would improve. Here you can find the 44.1khz original wav recording that I made, as you can hear the quality is still bad: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bf86nm.

Do you have it set to 44,1 KHz on the sound card as well (in the hardware)? So that there is no difference between the software and hardware in the sample rates and all? That would probably up the sound much worse though. I can't check the Traktor Pro recording settings now as I only have Traktor Scratch atm as Native Instruments ed up my order.

Kinda sounds like there's some filter on the sound, but none of the Xone:92 filters sound like that (at least on mine :p). Does the sound coming out of Traktor sound good on your speakers and headphones and only the recording sounds bad? Also does it sound better if you record with some other program or output from something else than Traktor?
Trancefxs
Yeah, when I switch the frequency on traktor, the soundcard automatically changes as well. Tomorrow I will have a deeeper look at it directly on Traktor. Maybe I have activated a Traktor effect mistakenly and is ruining the sound quality.
palm
lol turn off the HP filter on your mixer.
Trancefxs
Mmm you think it's a filter on my mixer, I was more positive that it could have been an effect activated on Traktor for mistake. I would be blind to not see the leds of a filter activated on my mixer or? :toothless I will check it out tomorrow.

Off topic slightly but not worthy of a new thread, How can you hook your decks (cdj200s) up to your laptop and traktor to record your mixes?
