need some advice... what would you do if you were in a similar situation?

I planned on hitting up a NYE event by myself 2nite. I'm totally comfortable going myself because I've done this b4. Last night at a small get together, I met a hot girl who had nothing planned. She's attractive, party girl, very outgoing. She was enthusiastic and really wanted to go with me (she invited herself pretty much). And she's also down to drop. The thing is this... tickets are pretty damn steep for NYE as you know. We hanged out only for 25 minutes or so. It seemed great based on the vibe. We met already months ago at a bar, but the vibe was friendly because she had a boyfriend at the time.
As pointed out, I know I'll have a great time tonight by myself. Rolling with a hot girl to bring in the new year will be good times, needless to say. But then again I just met this and chatted for 25 minutes; it's not like we've been on a couple of dates.. in fact, 2nite would be the "first date." In a situation like this, would you buy the ticket for the girl and go with the flow? If the price were around $40, I'd definitely just buy it. But the prices for 2nite are steep. To be honest, I feel like a sucker if I were to buy her the ticket; but then again, rolling in the new year with a hot girl? What would you do? |

This is a toughy, because you definitely want to get your new years mack on...But if she ends up being super annoying then you just paid to ruin your new years. Good luck bro, you have some soul searching :) |

| That's the thing, the uncertainty. I have no idea how things will unfold. We could be on each other like white on rice. Or she could be distant. That's the gamble. Had we hit it off well over a coffee date, it'd be a different story. But in this case, I really don't know where she's coming from; I only have those 25 minutes to have an idea of her.. I do know that if I go myself, it'll be a great time. But hey, I'm gambling on an even greater time if "white on rice" occurs. |

Dont do it dude.
She shouldnt expect you to cough up some dough for NYE tickets, especially after a short 25 minute conversation. That would seem a bit desperate bro. Also, if the company sucks, you can easy go your own way. Conversely, if it turns out to be a great night with her, you can use the money saved and spring for an extra cocktail or two which will be so much cheaper than buying that expensive ticket. |

if she buys the ticket and comes then your golden...don't seem desperate, you seem to always have a good time when you ride solo so its not like your not going to have fun. |

I was about to contact her, telling her where she can buy tickets but then realized that wouldn't fly. If I decide to bring her, I have no choice but to buy them tickets; she's the type of girl who is used to being pampererd/catered to.. I do agree that it makes me look like a sucker coughing up so much cash over a girl I just met for 25 minutes; BUT this girl is hot. Definitely a tough choice for me to make.
My sis advises that I just pay for her ticket and "have a blast bringing in the new year with a hot girl! not worrying about what should or shouldn't happen.. just to go and have a good time.. But damn this is a tough call.. I just hate that "what would have happened if?" thought that's surely going to cross my mind after the fact |

From a girl's perspective, I honestly wouldn't expect anyone I just met for 25 min. to pay for my ticket. However, I can understand why you would get it for her to save time, etc. In the 25 min. you have spent with her, you describe her as "the type of girl who is used to being pampered/catered to." Would you enjoy yourself if you were tending to her needs this NYE? Would it bother you if you walked in and she found friends she wanted to hang out with? Or what if she decided she just wanted to be friends?
I'm not saying any of these things could or would happen, but just want to play devil's advocate so that you can make the choice that is best for you since you don't really know this girl's true character after 25 min. But then again she may be everything and more you are looking for on NYE :-) GL! |

My .02cents.
I say don't do it. You repeatedly mentioned she was hot. If you are a guy landing hot girls regularly then go for it.
You will find a lot of girls there, just bring a pill or two with you and the rest will follow. Like someone mentioned in the above posts, save the money use it later for a date with her. If she goes out with you, you score:-
The worst case, tell her straight up that you can't get her the ticket but willing to pitch in some money.
P.S. tickets on CL are going for $65-70. |

I think just let her know, you get the ticket, first rounds of drinks on her, in a joking manner. If she reacts positive, like say "Oh ofcourse" then its a go.
But if she says "eeermmm hummmmm. Yeah I guess...." Then you know what to do. |

I decided on what to do. I'm just going to tell her straight up that we only known each other for a mere 25 minutes. If we hanged out for a few weeks or so, then I'd buy tickets. But because we've only known each other for such a short time, I'm not going that route. After pointing this out, I'll further say that if she's down to drop $50.00, I have everything else covered.
If she denies this, that's a surefire sign of the type of person she is and what type of night I would have had with her.
If she accepts this, then I feel she's understanding and the night will be a blast.
Again, if this was a cheaper event, there'd be no question, I'd pay. I do have the money, but it's just the principle behind it: it's overboard shelling out close to $90.00 in a situation like this. |
