While I was dropping a duce at work today I was pondering some questions about Princess Leia from the incest Darth Vader thread
1. If Leia is a princess and Luke is her brother then wouldn't that make him a Prince and Darth Vader would be the King? If Leia thinks her father and mother are dead, why isn't she Queen?
2. Isn't a little odd that the head of a monarchy with the title of princess is the leader of the rebellion? When's the last time you heard of rebels lead by royalty in the pursuit of freedom and democracy? Democracy has only been able prosper once monarchies have been removed or had its power taken away like England. |

Except that she's a princess because her adoptive parents are king/queen.

So one gigantic evil "empire" is slowly, but surely, taking over every planet/galaxy in existence. Why wouldn't a monarchy on one or more of those planets want to defend themselves and be able to rule their own world as they see fit?

Her adoptive parents are dead. Darth blows up her planet. So from that point on she should be Queen, but instead remains a princess.
Monarchy is has more in common with a dictatorship than a democracy. |
