I'd put that under "Bass". Also, add d16 Phoscyon under the Bass category
More Drums:
- NI Maschine
- Spectraonics Stylus RMX
- d16 Nepheton
- d16 Drumazon
- MOTU BPM
- Sonic Charge Microtonic |

Also need to add:
FX:
Waves
Izotope
Synths
Novation V-station (how did that one get missed?)
Waldorf collection
Vember Surge
Drums
Ultrabeat (although it's bundled with Logic)
Idrum
Maschine
Bass
Novation Bass Station
And you need to add a Soft Sampler section which should at least include:
EXS
Kontakt
And you should add a mastering FX section:
Waves (again)
Izotope (Ozone)
PSP
These are just the most popular ones or at least the classic "go to" items. |

Some of the categories could be improved IMO. For example, Reverbs should either be classified under "Effects", or keep Reverbs separate and specify something like "Multi-Effects" or "Other Effects". But that leaves Delays out, so maybe they need their own category.
Also, there is a category for Compressors, but not one for limiters or EQs, etc., so that could be better presented IMO.
Also, there should be a separate category for Filters IMO - people request recommendations for these fairly regularly. A few off the top off my head:
- Tone2 FilterBank 3
- Sugar Bytes WOW
- FabFilter Volcano
- Ohm Force Frohmage / Quad Frohmage
- U-he FilterScape
edit: I see Eric and I think alike - adding filters and EQs! |

Plus we are leaving out a lot of native effects plugins that are specific to certain DAW packages. Those should at least be represented somewhere.
Logic has many outstanding effects that are widely used and very popular among Logic users. Channel EQ, Space Designer, Delay Designer, AutoFilter, ES1, ES2, Sculpture, just to name a few, and there are a lot more.
Ableton does as well with things like Beat Repeat, that are only available in that package.
Cubase has some good built in instruments as well, Prologue comes to mind.
I'm sure the other DAW packages also have package-specific units that are available only on that package which are quite popular. We should probably represent those as well., I would not like to we give the impression that you must have 3rd party plugins to produce good music, because many of the built in instruments and effects are just as good and in some cases better than available 3rd party counterparts. |

| Maybe even another category for MIDI-based sequencer plugins like Sugar Bytes Thesys, dB Glitch, etc.? |

ProTools 8 comes bundled with Air plugins, which are great...I find myself using Air Multi-Delay, Vintage Filter, and Filter Gate quite often.
ProTools also comes with Vacuum, a synthesizer modeled after vacuum tube synthesis...Very very dirty! |
